Gossip about British Television Shows, Soaps and Series

Many many years back, there were a few members here on EF who enjoyed a good chinwag with me about EE and others talked about their fave soaps and series.....sadly some of these members have left EF by now.

So an EE nut like me of course has to revive/re-start a thread about something so profane as a telly soap......you never know there may be someone who likes to air their thoughts as well.....and this light hearted gossiping may light up the mood and deviate of the daily grind and sometimes bad stuff we all have to deal with.

I for one am very pleased that my fave Brother Grunt is back on our screen (sadly not forever)

Okay, I admit it, I do follow Eastenders. Well I did but lately I just saved it on zattoo .... and now I have 18 (eighteen) episodes to catch up on. That would be 9 hours and the longer I put it off the worse it gets. I don't have laundry to iron for 9 hours .... maybe I just follow this therad and you fill me in?
I got a bit tired of the endless Stacey-story .... but for Grant ... Ross Kemp did some very interesting documentaries btw.

The endless Ronnie/Roxy/Jack saga is doing my head in....how long do the script writers want to repeat the same storyline over and over, with just a slight change of circumstances??? I do like the addition of the "Ronnie baby swap scandal" stalker though.

I love a bit of 'stenders when I want to switch off and not concentrate too much

Re: He's back......my favourite Brother Grimm that is

WOWZERS.....you just made this old lass very happy with your replies.

I do enjoy a chinwag about EE, and as funny peculiar this may sound, it is the reason for me watching exclusively British telly nowadays.

When I moved 1994 from bedsit to a flat, got cable TV and BBC Prime as it was called then.
Then this channel aired almost everything!! with Subs (the only other European Channels who were Deafie friendly were the French) So first thing i stumbled across on that Channel was EE , humble moi got hooked instantly, there were ppl worse off than me ( YES! I KNOW IT S A SOAP) and the rest is history.

So if you don't mind spoilers:

The special weeks are called LAST ORDERS because Babs Windsor asked for Peggy to be killed off. Bless her, she is 78 now.....but that is nothing compared to June Brown, the beloved Dot who is 89 now!!!!!

So Grant will return certainly next week, but I hear rumours we may be in for a surprise glimpse maybe on Thursday or Friday evening already. SAdly he has signed only for about 3 weeks

Peggy will leave us for the great pub in the sky next week ...... after losing her on-screen battle with cancer.

This is the main reason why Grant is coming back for a while. Unfortunately the BEEB also cast Daniella Westbrook again as Sam Mitchell () not only does she mostly look as if she swallowed a wasp (to cite one of my EE mates) but she can't act her way out of a cardbox either! BLEURGH!

Mimi, I totally agree with you, this has been strung along to almost fraying at the seams now.

And I can't place this stalker guy...he flirts with Stacey as if to push Martin aside and then it turns out he is Ronnie's stalker.....EH? and WHY?

Unless he is Kat's long lost son (which she searches for in Ireland at the moment....but that is another story )

Over and out and thanks for replying to the thread, Ladies

Have I totally missed the funeral, or is Peggy still rotting in a box somewhere?

Been wondering about that myself.... although it's not that unusual in the UK for a funeral to take place two or three weeks after death; even longer if there's suspicious circumstances.
Odd that no-one at all seems to have mentioned it though, the Mitchells seem more obsessed with their petty squabbles and planning trips to Portugal than sorting out what should be a big funeral. And I'd have expected Dot at the very least to be making a fuss about getting the ceremony absolutely right.
Perhaps they're waiting until Bobby's got his comeuppance and Ian has a few spare minutes to do the catering (in the Queen Vic, bien sur)?

Hopefully they'll wait now until I'm back from visiting OH in Copenhagen!

Cancelled by ITV.

Hopefully it will return home to the BBC and the story can be picked up again.

No no you haven't, it is still to come ....

In EE time only a few days have passed now....only just about a week yet since her passing.

Don't forget, due to the Footie EM there are a few shedule changes.

Also just learnt today.....he, he, two of my fave things in one.......Big Mo (Laila Morse ) and Ricckkaaayyyyyyyyyy (Sid Owen) will take part in Celebrity Masterchef starting June 22nd

Re: He's back......my favourite Brother Grimm that is

It is coming now....Peggy's funeral that is.

Her body was finally released by the authorities and the funeral will now take place in the upcoming episodes.

Grant, won't take part and from my mate's FB group, I know he already finished filming his stint on EE.

Unfortunately, for the next few weeks I will also have to endure the sight of one Daniella Westbrook as Sam Mitchell....... a total mistake of the casting dept!! Kim Medcalfe would've been a much better choice.

Peggy will have a 'proper' East End Funeral, horse drawn hearse and all the trimmings, I would bet that a fisticuff will also ensue....Peggy needs to go out with a 'bang'.

Isn't one of the things about EastEnders that the actors keep coming back over decades? Why would you prefer an actor to be replaced, Daniella Wetbrook is the original Sam Mitchell, isn't she?

Re: He's back......my favourite Brother Grimm that is

She is and was curley, you are right, but it turned out the Kim Medcalfe who played the role of Sam , was simply a better actress and made the role of Sam Mitchell her own and was very good at it.

Did you know that the role of Peggy Mitchell , wasn't at first played by Babs Windsor, who also did a better job of playing the Muvver of Filth and Grunt and was a great East End landlady??
