Whats on your bucket list?

So, now that i have finally only myself to take care of, i started working through my backet list.

Still to be done:

Ride a horse on the beach
Fly business class
Go to a plane cockpit during the flight (not going to happen unfortunately)
Travel on the orient express
Fly on a private jet
Watch a New Zealand rugby game
Watch Ronnie o'Sullivan play at the Crucible

Done:

Go to Australia
Ride a train in the drivers wagon
Go skidiving
Fly on a small plane
See the northen lights (totally not like the pictures but still!)

What about yours?

Simulator? I know it's not the same thing but might be the closest you can get and you'd even be able to take the controls yourself. http://www.aviasim.com/en/aviasim for example.

I was fortunate enough to be in the cockpit of a 747 during take-off in the evening of 5 November 1999, flying from London. It was an amazing sight -- it looked like the entire city was on fire. As a child, I had a few visits to the cockpit on commercial flights, too. It's a great shame that can't be done any more.

However, you said you'd been in a light plane already -- if you didn't get to sit with the pilot then, why not take another flight and ask to sit up front for a few minutes? Alternatively, take an introductory flying lesson and you'll get to fly the plane yourself (even rotating to take off all on your own!).

Re: Whats on your bucket list?

Let's see...

Still to do:
-Drive a Lamborghini Aventador at excessive speeds on public roads and brag about it on public forums

Done:
-Snort Cocaine off a prostitute
-Shop on a Sunday
-Do laundry at 3am
-Beat the Shah of Iran at a friendly match of thumb wrestling
-Won the state championship for cow-tipping

Re: Whats on your bucket list?

No bucket list for me.

I prefer to see what surprises life has all of its own volition.

It's all been quite entertaining so far.

I was always a bit of a bad boy and hence, that was never on my bucket list.

I did and it was great especially the take off part. Not as many buttons as a 747 but still good

I reckon that counts (actually, it's better, in a light plane you're actually flying the plane; in a commercial airliner, you're mostly operating a computer). You can cross the cockpit off your list.

Re: Whats on your bucket list?

I'd like to see a bit of Europe and more of Switzerland before I leave.

We have been here 18 years and seen almost nothing. During most of the time we have been here we have had eldercare responsibilities back home that have been taken all our free time. So 18 years here and no holidays, no memories to take back home with us.

Now that my responsibilities back home are a little easier we might have the time to take one or two weekends away for ourselves next year. But Murphy's law, I no longer have a dog sitter, we are back in the same boat - I can't travel.

So seeing Europe and Switzerland will likely remain a far off dream.

Maybe a more practical bucket list: Once I move back home, I'd like to see Yellowstone and Yosemite.

Difficult -- "Ferrari" and "Dino" are largely mutually exclusive.

2) To see my enemy driven before me
3) To hear the lamentations of their women
4) To finally own an Isamu Noguchi Glass Coffee Table

Dinos aren't Ferraris. Officially, not a single Dino left the factory with a Ferrari badge (although there are a few known cases of the script being added at a customer's request).

The Dino was a low(er)-cost, smaller-engined model produced by Ferrari for less-well-heeled customers. It was deliberately kept separate from the Ferrari brand and some models were even branded "Fiat Dino". It all gets a bit confusing from 1976, when the "Dino" marque was dropped and Dino 308s became Ferrari 308s...

Spot the difference:

Aha... I've seen a couple and they certainly _looked_ the part, didn't know the above until I availed myself of Wiki.

Not really an F car guy, though I do think the Fiat Dino is sweet.
