The prohibition is only for consuming it, not handling it

Re: UK new £5 note contains animal fat

Saw this on the news yesterday, and was tempted to post it in the First World Problems thread.

A tiny bit of tallow is nothing compared to all the infections transmitted by cash handling, and I bet they all reach for their scented tallow candles at bathtime or in a power cut.

Re: UK new £5 note contains animal fat

biodiesel also contains tallow, like the 5 pound notes.

how many vegetarians would have thought about the dilemma of either using bio products with animal fat or using vegan diesel?

Hmm, I would think every fossil fuel contains animal products.

I imagine the amount of animal fat is far outweighed by the amount of coke found on notes in the UK...

Re: UK new £5 note contains animal fat

I once saw an animal get killed by natural predators on TV. As a result, I now have PTSD.

Now, it flares up every time I see a new fiver. My victim status score just went up. Yay me. I win!

All the £5 notes in circulation, added together, contain half a cow's worth of tallow.

I don't think we'll be seeing a repeat of the Indian Mutiny.

And I'm also assured that the other half hasn't been wasted. It's just been put aside ready for the next round of quantitative easing.

"The Bank said the problem "had only just come to light" and it was treating the concerns with "utmost seriousness"."

And that's the problem right there.

Brexit or no Brexit, little by little the country is turning into an utter shithole. If this was Switzerland and the story "came to light", the SNB would shrug and say "so what?". (I wonder actually how much Tallow is in the new 50 note?)

Then, perhaps with 100,000 signatures it would go to referendum. And the people would vote and the majority would say "Get the f**k outta here".

Israel has Polymer bank notes since 2008, yet no one raised a fuss. The UK seems to have a fundamentlist vegan problem:

I think this is a sign that we need a war, because people don't seem to have enough sensible things to worry about.

Well if you think about it logically, why would any form of money need any form of animal product in it? Maybe the war should be between people who think it is ok and people who think it is not ok.

Or of course we could just get rid of money and do everything electronically and solve the problem.
