One of my favourite (and imo one of the most underrated) British actors of all time... RIP Mr. Hurt.

Probably because he made over 200 screen appearances, the earliest one I remember being The Naked Civil Servant and what my mum told me before she let me watch it! The 'chest burst' is unforgettable! RIP Sir CBE.

I am a huge British gangster movie fan and 44-Inch chest has 3 of my favourite actors in it... it may not be an amazing movie but will be worth a watch.

Re: John Hurt RIP

One of the great actors, in the truest sense of the word. Just hoping the BBC rerun 'I Claudius' now. Hurt was magnificent as Caligula.

Re: John Hurt RIP

Sad really😢 just hope 2017 won't be as devastating for the entertainment scene as 2016.
I saw him first in Midnight Express as Max

Re: John Hurt RIP

Loved him in the opening scene (and other scenes) of Captain Corelli's Mandolin, which was otherwise a disappointing movie - did not match the wonderful book.

J. Hurt always made his characters memorable, no matter how small the part. Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy is another one for me.

And not to mention playing The Fool in King Lear with L.Olivier..

watch from 3.34 onwards

Re: John Hurt RIP

A real man... of which there are very few in public life left - and indeed he provided reasons for that :

"Society is much more homogenised and we're all supposed to conform," he tells the Radio Times.

"People are censorious but the pendulum will swing back, as it always does. There were difficulties in those days, obviously, but life was more fun.

People are censorious but the pendulum will swing back, as it always does
Sir John Hurt
"There's political correctness as well. Where does it come from and who says what is or is not politically correct? And as for the way you have to treat women these days?."
