Harrison Ford avoids another air crash

He is now 74 years old, and making a mistake on this scale shows he isn't being too careful.

I think here in Europe he is at least 20 years past his "sell by date"

His record isn't good either, when do US pilots have to hand in their license?

He's rich and famous. Normal rules don't apply to him, particularly in the US.

It wasn't that bad. At least he didn't knock off the radar dish like Lando did.

That is an interesting question.

In general, pilot's licenses are for life s long as you are not stupid, get a DUI, etc.

But, most people lose their ability to fly due to medical reasons.

At his age, he probably holds a class C medical which would mean renewal by an FAA approved doctor every two years.

However, the FAA just passed a medical reform which eliminates this requirement and replaces it with a four year review with your personal physician.

In this instance, he will get a visit from an FAA investigator and could lose his license due to stupidity.

And guess what? No penalties, no fines, nada. He can carry on flying as usual.

If it had been anyone else their licence would at least have had some restrictions placed on it methinks.

I think voluntarily admitting to being a schmuck invalidated that rule.
