UPS lost my parcel - why must it come to this??

A company in the UK sent me a tracked and traced parcel, 5 weeks ago! on next day delivery, a whole back story to that one, suffice to say the company had screwed up and where trying to make a mends.

Anyway I tracked the parcel, all the usual updates, picked up, at sorting depot, entered customs clearing then .....

nothing

somehow this next day prio 1 parcel has disappeared, quick email to UPS - wheres my parcel - 2 days later a response "we're looking into it" then nothing again, I kinda forget about it for a while then email again, and again we're looking into it, then another email, enough, find my parcel and the usual "you didn't send it so we're not going to talk to you"

so they know its lost, I know its lost, but the sender is the only one who can officially tell them its lost??? WTF is wrong with these companies???

anyway a snotty email to ALL the top bods of UPS (you gotta love the internet) and I get a call from one of the top bods P/A's now all of a sudden its being looked into urgently, why does it have to come to this? why not empower your indian customer service bods so they can actually help rather then send out canned responses, telling you want you can see yourself on the tracking, why do there systems not flash huge warnings that parcels are 5 weeks late??, why is there no escalation when a customer has emailed multiple times???

I hope whoever has stolen the parcel likes their nice shiny custom made battery covers, for what they'll have no idea.

.
Almost everything.
Stop using them.

Today is the saint "process" which matters, and when there's a failure (many often), one needs to resort to insurance, complaints, etc...

Best be prepared and lower expectations.

Edit: Can you add the tag "fedex sucks" too? I am referring to the fact they Fedex used Swiss post to send me my parcel from UK, despite charging a lot in UK, parcel ended damaged and they first claimed Die Post was responsible, then lied on the fact that the item was "not properly packed" (as per their list of packing, and it was done properly).

You should have been cautious, as soon as you saw flashy pink custom made battery covers, you should have known they are stolen. Only bigblue would get those...

Ho well, better luck next time!
PS: watch out for fedex (diepost) and other courrier, as I doubt he will get UPS again.

I initially thought they were molds for making poorly designed interlocking paving stones. The rhinestones didn't even last the first two rounds of cement.

Is this typical of Rover parts?

the water in the cement normally rusts out rover parts before any damage can be made

Exactly, you don't have a contract with them - it is not your problem! You have a contract with the vendor, who has failed to deliver, get on to him. It is his problem and it is up to him to sort it out.

Re: UPS lost my parcel - why must it come to this??

UPS are dreadful. My Choice membership actually gives you no choices at all.

I ordered a GoPro for delivery to my in-laws where I'm staying. Delivery was supposed to be 2-3 days. UPS gave delivery date as Friday (5 days), but Friday came and went with no delivery.

Turns out they rescheduled because they consider the address "remote". They can't give me a new delivery date, they can't organise for me to drive to a depot and collect it, or meet a driver somewhere. I desperately need that parcel for my trip in a week - but I have to just wait for them to bother to re-schedule and actually drive to the village (whenever that may be). So pissed off!!

UPS are mainly set up for B2B in CH and italy. they seem to screw up anything residential. stick to DHL and DPD where possible. they are both bullet proof.

Unfortunately when you order something, it doesn't often say who will be delivering it.

Worked for UPS once. Got to load the trucks for delivery. Best paying idiot job ever. Including free morning workout. Nothing beats being a Teamster.

Re: UPS lost my parcel - why must it come to this??

At 0630 this morning I got a UPS email saying my parcel was delivered at 1000 (in the future) - signed for by POSTCARD - I'm hoping this means they've given it to the Post for delivery, but they haven't actual informed me of anything

Re: UPS lost my parcel - why must it come to this??

UPS are truly awful

Friday - package should have been delivered. At 10pm tracking said there was an "exception", and to check next day for an update.

Saturday - no update.
Sunday - no update.

Monday - no update, so I phoned. "It will be delivered today".

Monday night, no parcel - tracking now shows delivery should have been that day.

I tried to raise a package loss claim - but you can't do that if there's been an update in the last 24 hours.

Tuesday - no parcel, but that night status is again updated to show delivery should have been that day.

So I still can't raise a loss claim due to the (false) update.

Wednesday - package arrives in postbox, no notification or anything. Tracking now says delivery will be Thursday!

I had a message from iHerb like that saying my parcel had been delivered when in fact it was just at the local post depot ready for delivery that day.
I hope yours is the same.

UPS is dreadful, they tried to tell me that my house doesn’t exist so they couldn’t deliver my package. I had to send them a map before they agreed to deliver it and when it actually arrived the driver was one who’d been here already on several occasions.

Parcel did indeed get delivered by normal post late this morning. So if your UPS delivery says "delivered" signed for by "postcard" then they have handed it over to SwissPost, as they can't be bothered to deliver it themselves
