It's up, earlier in the thread.

Haven't been either, but have in the US and it is one of the better burger chains, imho.

Re: Five Guys

New shop open in the Gare des Eaux-Vives Geneve..

Pass it twice per day, never saw a single person inside..

I've tried in the UK and yeah it was a pretty nice burger but cost about 5 times as much as a MacDo. And considering I quite like an occasional MacDo, it's a no from me.
I also found it too complicated, twenty questions about what I wanted, sauce, cheese, onion, drink, fries, bread .. etc .etc. Just gimme the damn thing.

Re: Five Guys

Any idea as to where in Zürich it'll be? From my half hearted googling I could find nothing other than it will open some time in 2020.

I think the two-year-old article linked earlier is perhaps not reliable. Their website doesn't mention a Zurich location, so I suspect they decided against it.

Anyway, it's still "just" a burger chain, not proper food, so I don't see what the fuss is all about...

EDIT: As evidenced by the fact that they don't even serve alcohol, AFAICT.

I like the burgers, it is not as if I would go to a "proper" restaurant when going to Five Guys, it is fast food. In Berlin they serve beer.

All 3 locations (2 in Geneva, 1 in Lausanne) serve beer according to their website

Don't see what the fuss is about either, just surprised of all the US chains to now enter into the Suisse market that it's this one

But Chickeria and Holy Cow are both 100% terrible. I can't vouch for Five Guys as I have not tried it before. Best burgers in Zürich are at Burger Meister on Langstrasse. The Butcher is also OK. Not that bothered about Milkshakes/Frappes as thats really a thing for kids.
Gonna have to disagree here - the Holy Cow Elvis (I think now renamed to Montreux Jazz) burger with caramelized onion and blue cheese is delicious.

It’s a burger joint, why would anyone expect a burger joint to serve alcohol?
A crappy weak beer is about the most anyone can expect in a burger place.

I know it's just a burger chain, but I've quite liked their burgers in the past. It's not a replacement of a sit down meal but they hit a spot nicely. You can always just grab one for takeout and BYOB.

I found this link which is less than 6 months old. I was just wondering does anyone have any other info. No stress.

Which is the reason we avoid Subway Once a while MacDo is great, or was, before they installed the self order docks. They are annoying and the staff headcount is thinner, hurting the service quality, unemployment, etc.

Btw, I think the Eaux-Vives will fill up, it takes months before customers here "forgive" a new coming business for being so daring. We just had a Jack Pepper and Takinoa close in our hood and they have only been here a short while. I think people started needing better opening hours, not really better places to eat, a long time ago. The way to tank the new comers' businesses is to license them only limited opening hours, I think they don't have the choice, though, la commune does.

Holy Cow would like to have a word with you

And honestly they are much better than Five Guys or whatever the next American junk food chain is called.

Just like Chickeria easily beats KFC

Five Guys - the ones I've been to in London - are excellent. IMO.

I’ve never eaten in a Five Guys. Holy Cow was fine but the beer was pretty crappy.

No idea about the chicken joints as I’ve not eaten in either of them.

I’m not really a fast food person.

Re: Five Guys

Popped in, my first time - just had a shake (too sweet) & fries (too greasy & salty). Visually, burgers just did not look very appealing

It continues to be a headscratcher for me why this chain landed here, apart from expat interest - is that enough to sustain longevity en Suisse? I am very skeptical

You went there and did not try - just look at - their main offer? And now judge them?

I've never been in one but your "critics" is not helpful to make a decision.

Went and checked out TCS the other week but left my car home and went on foot .... was not impressed.

So you feel you could not write a restaurant review or comment on a restaurant unless you had tried everything on the menu?

I suspect, as it's a franchise (is it? Actually I'm doubting now) that the food is at the level the local market will accept.

Well, I like McD coffee, KFC quesadilla, Wendy's chilli, B King fries, In and Out burgers....it is pretty normal that people handpick from otherwise pretty same fast food menus. When going to a place I don't care if absolutely all on their menu is marvelous.

FCBarca, I think they have a shot here, fast food is popular. I don't like the trend but know that fast food sells, more than Coop frozen nuggets or croque monsieur that one can sometimes come across in other local restos. Same price.
