Re: Five Guys

I finally tried their food. Honestly, its nothing special. Ive had better burgers in other fast food places. If it was half the price I would consider trying a second time but now, unless its free, im going to pass.

Re: Five Guys

The best hamburgers I ever had were in a restaurant/s not in a fast-food. This food might seem cheap and unspectacular and it could sound counter-intuitive to order such a thing in a restaurant but it's nothing like that if you use the right, high quality ingredients and improve the classic recipes a bit.

Quite right. When Marco Pierre White opened his Titanic restaurant in Soho in the 90's he had "Boeuf Haché a la McDonalds" on the menu. Best burger I've had by a mile!

Re: Five Guys

Best burger is mom's. Not sure why it's called Dutch (maybe the edam) but it has cheese and herbs mixed with minced meat and it is wrapped in batter&breadcrumbs and fried.

It is a bit kiddie but...I also don't like the bread part of the burger meal.

OMG, that sounds amazing! Where?
I make it myself, so "Kittster's Freezer" is the best I can offer. I hope I saved the recipe: it's a non-churn thing, so all you need is a blender to get the watermelon nice and smooth before adding the syrup mix and chopped mint. Will pass it along if I find it again, been too busy this summer to make ice cream.

Re: Five Guys

I gave in and stopped at Five Guys for lunch last Saturday.

Just as good as I remember it, but damn, it was not worth the money. Give me the same meal at US prices and I'd go again ($15 vs 32 CHF )
