mmmm Swiss chocolate never trasted so good...

Just found this while surfing:
Quote:
A Swiss chocolate company, Cocoa Gourmet, has created what its calls its "Royal Collection," which features 12 chocolates made with safe-to-eat gold or silver, or sprinkled with diamonds. Priced at $1,250, the collection has four 22-carat gold chocolates, four pure silver chocolates and four sweet diamond pieces.
mmmm - cheap at half the price. Wonder when Coop will stock them.

Pat

If they're selling successfully, they're making a fortune.

.. You can easily make your own ... at a fraction of the price.

Pure edible gold: 10g marker for CHF 50.-,
pure edible gold sprinkles for CHF 15.00 (10 mini-packets per set)

These items been available for quite some time now at our online shop..

Re: mmmm Swiss chocolate never trasted so good...

The taste is neutral, as you're just using tiny amounts. It's the overall effect that is stunning and a great way to decorate hand-made chocolates to give away as a gift.

From Wikipedia: "Gold is the most malleable and ductile metal; a single gram can be beaten into a sheet of one square meter, or an ounce into 300 square feet. Gold leaf can be beaten thin enough to become translucent. The transmitted light appears greenish blue, because gold strongly reflects yellow and red."

Using precious metals on food, particularly confectionery, is more common in Asian countries.

IMO the chocolates mentioned in the op are seriously over-priced.

A good three years on and Cocoa Gourmet seems to be out of business.

We're still here, though, and "fresh" supplies of edible gold and silver have just arrived - in time to decorate glitzy cupcakes, chocolates and desserts for the festive season.

Oh, boom boom.

That has to be Segue of the Day.

The combination of necroposting, a slight link and a good old plug is just divine

Compared with some of the posts which get added to very old threads by brand new members plugging their firm or making an ad for their wares, this is pretty harmless - even to a Mod's eyes.

(I've heard that next time I meet Crumbs she'll be bringing me free samples... which of course, would not affect my integrity or cause me to refrain from deleting off topic posts when necessary. Well not much anyway.)

Absolutely, as soon as GG organises an unofficial Christmas Drinks Do at the Viadukt. I'll make some more cupcakes scattered with gold and/or silver dust again. No excuses then not to come along for one or two, Longbyt.
