Re: Postcards from your birth place

The hospital that I was born in was originally Tonbridge Workhouse. It is still a hospital and, in my opinion, possibly one of the worst in the UK. Fortunately it is due to be demolished soon and replaced with a state of the art building.

Possibly the biggest claim to fame of my home village, Hartfield is that it was the home of A A Milne, author of Winnie-the-Pooh. As a child I often played Pooh-Sticks on the original bridge. A A Milne's home was later owned by Brian Jones of The Rolling Stones and he sadly drowned in the swimming pool there.

Please take note that I was born in the Little Big City, and not "Downtown Switzerland".
Nice picture of the Zervreilahorn.

Hooray For Detroit! Home Sweet Home...... People often ask how I could have ever left such a progressive and culturally ebonic city.

Re: Postcards from your birth place

Its the cheapest city in America. You can get a house in a black nieghborhood for about $7,000 on average. They are all 100 year old homes which are build with incredible attentiveness. Most of the homes are abandoned though. So is fort Wayne. really a pitty. Some one needs to come in and buy out a huge swath, like they did with the docks in London.

Quick question - is it true all curling stones come from there or is this an urban myth

Re: Postcards from your birth place

Damn, I didn't realize you could get them that cheap. It really is a shame that Detroit has fallen to such depths.

Cleveland has a few sections like that, but I think on average it is a bit better. Except that they've got the highest rate of repossessions, unless that's changed recently.

Re: Postcards from your birth place

Nugget Point. Wasn't born there exactly, but close enough.
Many happy days spent poking about around the whole area (when not being blown off the cliff face, or getting yelled at by sea lions!!).

In the other pic, you get to meet some of our closest neighbours
