Oh are we talking only social media? Social media doesn't count, does ut? I was thinking real life. ,
Ghosting is a typical social media phenomena.

Real life ignoring is probably even more painful for the ignored - but harder to actually keep up if the "ignored" insists on being noticed.

I think social media does count as a lot of people spend the biggest part of their life there these days.

That's the other thing these days: People "brag"/complain in public they've been ghosted?

Back in them old days - ignoring is not a new thing - people would wonder about themselves first.
And if not that at least we didn't have the impression that every living creature is obliged to pay full attention to us.
Attention seeking is very common on social media... You know these sort of posts (usually from the same people)..

... I just can't believe some people ...
... Some people are horrible ...
... I know who my real friends are ...

All attention seeking.. Seeking that response, ' oh what's wrong, what happened, you ok?...'

/*Controversial*/
Seems to be a ladies thing :-)

No need to ghost.

“It’s nothing personal. I’ve just lost interest in talking to you.”

...always worked for me.

“Fuçk off and die” also works. A bit old school maybe.

Re: Ghosting - is it ever okay ?

It's psychologically damaging for the ghosted person lives with silence and unanswered questions, thus it robs them of peace and closure to move on.

It's best to be honest so that both can heal.
