I still don't understand the decision. Regardless your opinion of the Big Mac, it is probably the most iconic dish in the world.

Re: No more Big Macs in EU

They seem to be inadvertently advertising McDonalds. No such thing as bad publicity, and all that...

Reminds me of a recent radio programme I was listening to where the guest was saying his mum refers to the "Dyson Hoover".

<<The EUIPO, which is based in Alicante, Spain, ruled that McDonald’s had not proven genuine use of Big Mac, which it trademarked in 1996, as a burger or restaurant name.>>

I always assume that unless a poster has quoted a specific post that they are making a general reply to the thread.

Sometimes though to avoid quoting, they may be replying to the post immediately preceding theirs. Of course this only works out if no one posts in the meantime.

Exactly, which is why it is best to quote the post that you are actually replying to.
It avoids any misunderstandings.

I had made a reference to Pulp fiction but changed it to Spain because of the Spanish reference in the post before. The guy picked up on that and quoted the line from the movie, which is in French. It's all good!

What the? How can McD's not have proven the use of Big Mac when they must sell hundreds of thousands of them every day of the year.

I guess the EU court just wanted to support the poor little Irish battlers in Supermac's. I've tried their burgers, they're good ...

I think the specific issue may have been with the Mighty Mac:
