The amusing thing is they will write you a very nice letter you can show to the RAV, the companies receives 100's such applications a week!

I was once offered, by email, a position as CEO of a Nigerian bank.

They told me no actual work was involved, but I would need to provide my account details for the purposes of salary payments.

Now I regret not having replied.

Newest issue of K-Tipp.... from their 'ask a lawyer ;-) section" ... you have to keep sending out applications up to a month before you start the new job.

https://www.ktipp.ch/artikel/d/muss-...rhin-bewerben/

Article is in German. Feed it to DeepL for an apt translation

You have to apply for REAL jobs even if the job is unrelated to your qualifications, as you have to do 'any' work offered. The law does not specify so applying as a brain surgeon is as acceptable as a job in McDonalds.

I think he would be a good brain surgeon.

KS2 SAT marking. 'Tis the season for applications and they can take a while to get back to you. The work, if you got it, wouldn't be for several months.

Re: Hoop-jumping for the RAV: frivolous applications

Just send as many applications as you want to UBS for some kind of job - there are a few in education (state to the RAV that it's always been your dream to work at UBS).

By the time the application has been through Poland, India and possibly the APAC region, after which it will lie untouched on either a bored or over-worked line-Managers desk in CH for an additional few weeks or months, you may have received a response. And nothing lost!

Time is money...

I've never experienced the pleasures of the RAV .. So apologies in advance for the daft answer.

Do you actually have to really apply for real positions?
And do you really think they have to take your word for it.... the case officers can check up on you if they wish to...

Re: Hoop-jumping for the RAV: frivolous applications

You might get away with sending some applications for a teaching post to the University of Farmington (Michigan), but don't wait too long. At least there is little risk of them actually offering you employment.

Re: Hoop-jumping for the RAV: frivolous applications

Are only applications to companies counted, or would private tutoring applications suffice? There are several Nebenjobs listed on Tutor24, if these could be counted towards your application quota...

Re: Hoop-jumping for the RAV: frivolous applications

Thanks to everyone for some great suggestions!

Re: the fine details of the RAV requirements, I'm going to just toe the line for my last few weeks. My RAV advisor is pretty chill, and I don't want to get on his nerves just when I'm about to say goodbye.

I'm not going to bother with the holidays either, seeing as I'll actually be working through them anyway.

Thanks also to the people who have contacted me privately with some excellent ideas and suggestions.

In some ways, I'm regretting having landed this permanent position...

Re: Hoop-jumping for the RAV: frivolous applications

I understand, and respsct, that you don't want to waste the time of potential employers and decent people by bogging them down with frivolous job applications.

But everybody has certain companies they hate now, don't they?

The Local for example, or Serafe, or the Aromat factory.

Hint Hint.

Nope. Networking and other such activities such as relevant courses count too. Meet a few colleagues for lunch from companies, ask if you can put them down, and that's that.

How about asking the RAV man if you can have his job, and if he says no, ask him to put that in writing.
