CO2 Compensation

Can one use this as an excuse for the actions that destroy the environment. For example. The fireworks in Zurich pumped so much fine dust in the air. But it was " compensated" by sending some money to Africa to support the poor. Or does the money go into the pockets of someone else? This concept of "compensation" is an hypocrisy.

Writes the man who bragged about the Melbourne fireworks (I watched the video, I was not impressed).

Changing ones mind is the privilege of ladies, they used to say

Okay then. This compensation payments are .... I don't even have a name for them. Whom are they trying to convince/fool?
It doesn't matter who's pocket they go into. Unless one plants a tree that can make up for the exact amount of air ruined, it's bollocks.

There, I told you what you already knew.

Unless of course they teach a generation or two from now how to breath money. Anything is possible.

Probably has something to do with Christian mentality-make up for your sins with a good act.

Re: CO2 Compensation

Yes, so let's pollute in the west, then pay money to the developing countries to plant trees, while telling them they should not pollute! It is madness and the reason I don't contribute to these schemes. Besides, look up the NGO's where the money goes to. Nice fat salaries, and what do they drive in the developing countries, large 4 x 4's!!! So hypocritical!

Buying carbon credits in exchange for a clean conscience while you carry on flying, buying diesel cars and powering your homes with fossil fuels, etc etc . Such madness. But the real truth is thats its a big money making machine and thats all thats important here.
The new "cash cow" is called CO2 Compensation!

Re: CO2 Compensation

Which is what made the carbon emissions trading scheme so ridiculous. Designed to cut pollution, all it did was allow companies to pollute, by buying credits. The extra cost was then passed on to us, the consumer, by way of higher prices!!

Re: CO2 Compensation

Here's a man who is actually planting trees.
https://www.1millionwomen.com.au/blo...-central-park/
Jadav Payeng lives in a small hut on the Indian river-Island of Majuli in north eastern India, with his wife and three children.

A former labourer and forestry worker, Jadav began planting trees as a part of a government initiative in 1979. Then 16, he chose to remain behind after the project was over, in order to care for the plants and trees.

In what was once nothing more than a baron land mass; what appears to be a mirage from the river's edge is now, Jadav's forest. Having lost over half it's landmass since 1917, and with erosion quickly compounding on the island of Majuli, Jadav sought to protect his land and it's inhabitants, committing himself to plant a sapling once every couple of days.

Some 37 years later, Jadav is still tending to his trees, now boasting an area larger than New York City's Central Park.
