EF Community Podcast

I've been toying with the thought of doing an EF Community Podcast, in order to keep us all informed about the ongoing epidemic. I would also like to discuss daily issues regarding the virus and also possibly answer questions posed by you directly. One thing I would like to emphasize is that my intentions are also to alleviate this tense environment and provide some sort of light entertainment maybe once or twice per week.
Now, I have no clue how to do a podcast and I would need some technical support, as I don't own a mic. I've messaged people, but they are currently unable to help, because of the ongoing situation. Now, I'm throwing this out here, who has some sort of experience with podcast or knows someone who does within the ZH area and is willing to help me out. Another thing, I would like to have a cohost for some light banter.

That's a fine idea :msncool: you could also consider a YouTube livestream where people can message with you. It would be saved for viewing later for those that don't tune in.

Ladies and gentlemen, we welcome you to "The Lockdown", an EF Community Podcast with your favorite mods, Castro and LiB.

Great, we got the intro, now we only need 2 mics and a laptop that doesn't run on Diesel. Anybody?

What kind of mic do you need? Will also provide the laptop if you will keep the following thread clean ;) to just give good information :p:

You know what, I think this could be amazing. It would also keep great posters / mods like Lost_inbroad, Castro, Slammer, etc. etc. etc. (sorry if Ive missed you) off roaming the streets. Maybe, it could even also tempt others like DB to return!

I mean this sincerely!

Dunno, and let me re-emphasize that this thread is about creating a podcast. He’s a great writer and entertainer, as are the other posters I mentioned. There are many others.

If we can keep things interesting over a podcast, and create in-effect a separate and cool environment between those that are harmlessly here, just looking for good information, contacts in a foreign land etc. then why not?

Everyone can decide themselves which one(s) to join.

Well, not right now. Let me get this off the ground first.

I'd be potentially interested in this. I cant speak french, german or italian, I am stuck at home with a wife and three kids and an overweight cat and I read the UK news avidly as I like politics.

Do I win a prize ?

Depends:
Do you have any experience with podcasts?

Do you own microphones?

Are you fun to be around?

The fat cat is clearly a plus.

The podcast will be in English, no need for that other gibberish.

Do you have any experience with podcasts? No

Do you own microphones? No, unless a decent webcam counts.

Are you fun to be around? There's the off chance this could be true

The fat cat is clearly a plus. I'm at a minus then

The podcast will be in English, no need for that other gibberish. I'm Irish meaning sometimes my english is close to gibberish.

I'm guessing you are planning on doing this all remotely? I could spend some time looking into the mechanics of podcasts if it'll be any use to you.

What quality of mic does a person need for a passable podcast?

No worries Ato, those were just some loosely placed questions, to see whether anybody has Podcast experience and possibly some equipment. There was a user advertising something about podcasts whom I've contacted recently but I haven't received any response.

Two things:

Unless you are seasoned presenters/speakers a voice to text simulator would be a good idea. And even if you are, not everyone will be able to listen. Maybe @EastEnders has some ideas.

Also, perhaps an occasional female voice in the mix.

For a mic, I think a USB mic would work well. But you could probably also use any headphones that have a mic. For the camera, I think most monitors / screens have cameras built into them now (?), or you could just use a cheap webcam (like the one you use for your Brazilian fart porn channel, LiB). ;) :D
