Christine - I'm sweating bullets for you!

As I was busy orchestrating the reduction of my fleet, sitting in my comfy chair; exactly sitting, where I've said that I would be sitting roughly 5 weeks ago, I glance out the window for some much needed vitamin D. Lo and behold, it was there, she was there. No it can't be! Christine, gleaming in the perfect light, radiating sunshine directly into my eyes. Could it be a premonition or simply a rejoicing sight midst the monotone cacophony of German upper-middle class wagons and soccer mom battle tanks? Admittedly, I've never seen a Christine in real life and what a beauty she is. Windows down, a 2-tone fire-red and white paint job which looks like it came straight out of the candy shop. Obviously, I went out to admire Christine and complimented her on her voluptuous curves. "Have you been working out, Christine? I have to go back inside, yeah, we're on lockdown and what would the neighbors think, but I'll be back, I promise."
So here I am sitting exactly in the chair, where I've said that I would be sitting roughly 5 weeks ago and every once in a while Christine and I exchange glances. I daydream about us taking a stroll down by the lake while playing Rebel Rouser on repeat. Deng-Deng-Deng-Deng Clap-Clap-Clap Deng-Deng-Deng Clap-Clap-Thump! Thump? What is "Thump"?! It can't be.
The loud thump was exactly what I had suspected, the upstairs neighbors' kids were strolling by with a soccer ball. I froze in horror. I sure hope these little buggers do a straight beeline for the playground and leave my Christine alone. But noooo, the smaller of the 2 decided to touch her with his dirty little hands. I didn't know what to do, feeling powerless, looking out the confinement of my bedroom, shades tilted just enough to make them seem like bars in front of a cell. I needed to do something, but what? After all, it wasn't my car nor were they my kids. Panic-stricken, I look around the bedroom and try to come up with anything feasible to protect my Christine from possible dents and cooties.
Baseball bat? No, don't want to get blood on the Louisville Slugger. Pepper Spray? No, I may need it for salad later. Pillow? Too fluffy. Farting Bulldog? Perfect! See, the upstairs neighbors' kids stem from a cultural background which don't necessarily favor dogs and as I've noticed from past encounters, they're scared shitless and won't even pet my beloved canine. Dog (real name withheld for privacy reason), it's time for a walk! Sure enough, as soon as I stepped out, the touchy-feely, snot-nosed duo dispersed with a speed that would make any Antifa member proud when faced with a water cannon or the prospect of a job.
Ah yes Christine, you're safe again. I ventured back into my lockdown cell in order to proceed the promotion of my fleet reduction. I needed coffee first, to calm my nerves and celebrate my proud achievement. What should I get? Mocca or instant? Decaf, Aromatic or that Kopi Luwak crap? I need a fix and I need it now, thus I settle for instant with some juice. Meaning no decaf. As the water cooker fizzed, a sudden thundering rumble acquiesced this serene setting and for a moment, I felt time skip a beat. It was Christine. The deep gurgle emitted from her V8 was like a symphony dedicated to anyone owning a Tesla. Yeah green boys and girls, this is what a car sounds like. I rushed back to my cell and only saw Christine backing out of the parking lot. She sped off into the sunset but had the courtesy to at least say goodbye. She honked twice - sounding like a fog horn on a container ship. Goodbye Christine, until we meet again. I'm now back, sitting in my comfy chair; exactly sitting, where I've said that I would be sitting roughly 5 weeks ago.

It's not everyday, that a 58 Belvedere is just parked outside my window.

I know what you mean. I don't favor red cars in particular but this one was just like the Christine from the movie. It even had registered and customized U.S. tags with "EVIL58" on them. It was beautiful.

Re: Christine - I'm sweating bullets for you!

I continue to enjoy a passionate love affair with my '66 Mustang coupe. When she fires up my knees go weak, my heart beats faster, my faces immediately adopts a Joker-like grin.

She's not as glamorous as a '58 Belvedere nor the '57 Fury, she thankfully doesn't have as much chrome to polish, and she can fit a little better into most parking spaces than Christine.....and whilst I wouldn't swap my baby out, I sure would like to get her an older sister.....

We're not alone. Every time I take my darling out, so many people stop, smile and wave - she just spreads joy with her gurgling purr. Driving through tunnels is an absolute fabulously deafening treat, and if I can just figure out how to fix the cassette recorder, we'll get a Beach Boys revival happening...

My first was a 383 Fury wagen. Great car but handled like a boat with its shot power steering and drank gas like an alcoholic. My favorite was then the 74 350 Nova hatch. Miss her dearly.

Yeah. Christine might weigh almost 2 tons, but I'd never dare call her fat..

Yeah, the Mustang drinks like a Scotsman in the tropics. Bugger the fuel consumption. I'm a little greenie for recycling and tree planting and energy conservation, so reckon that offsets the fact that I really need to drive with a fuel tanker truck nearby at all times...
