LiB's owl debacle or How to get rid of (insert animal of choice)

Alright, so right by my window there sits an owl which for the love of "insert deity of choice here" won't shut up. It has taken up some Poeish dimensions, where I do see stark similarities with the "Raven". Anyhow, I'm usually not bothered by such futile outside factors, but the owl's incessant "uuuhuuu-uhuuuu-uhhuuuuu" however is slowly starting to bother me. Since I'm more of the pragmatic type, I decided to do something about it. Now, my dog doesn't have thumbs so she naturally cannot climb the tree - silly dog, no nose and no thumbs.
I was looking on Tutti to possibly get a falcon or an eagle to chase the owl away but all the poultry offered are of the chicken or parakeet variety, so that is no use. I've informed myself and apparently, the Swiss falcon/eagle society, requires you to complete some 2 year course before you can hold one and the actual birds are quite pricey; although I did find one online in Bucharest for 350 EUR but they don't ship. To my dismay, the falcon/ealge society also don't just rent them out. . . I don't want to use fireworks, because I don't want to hurt or kill the bird, plus I've had some really bad experiences, the last 2 times I bought fireworks, but that's another story.
So I'm asking you knowledgeable and wise people here, why does it "uuuhuuu-uhuuuu-uhhuuuuu" all day and night?
Also, how do I ask him/her to relocate?

Thanks in advance!

Record the uhu uhu sound from the owl and replay it. The owl will disappear

Buy one of these, put it on and clamber up the tree and chase it way. It would certainly scare the hell out of me!

Re: LIB's owl debacle. . . need help

There is a simple solution. Take and old fashioned quill, plunge it in your inkwell and start to pen a letter on some fine parchment. Address it to the fine young exchange wizard Harald Töpfer at Hogwart's School of Witchcraft and Wizadry, England. Please seal the envelope using sealing wax into which you firmly put your family heirloom signet ring. Now, you just have to open the window and hand over the letter in the owls beak. It will take approximately a week and four fifths of another one for delivery and return of the owl. At that point you should have already penned another letter for delivery.

The biggest problem most people face is that they lack a family signet ring. Wonder how they can survive this days and times.

PS: The owl says uuuhuuu because it is a mighty Uhu (Bubo bubo). If not it might also be pigeon which deals with glue for sniffing (apparently quit common with tits and geese). Not sure if I want that kind of avian company in my backyard.

Re: LIB's owl debacle. . . need help

LiB, I would gladly help by sending you my neighbour's canaries, but alas, they are in an aviary, so they ain't goin' nowhere. Perhaps, if you could bring your owl here, it would gently persuade them to be a little less intrusive.

Roegner, your solution sounds excellent, to get the owl to relocate, but might animate my neighbour's canaries to greater levels of agitation. Perhaps its worth the try, though. Only, just as LiB said, I don't want to harm any animal, ever, and these similarly incessant canaries are trapped.

It's too piercing, too piercing.

Wisdom and empathy. The bird doesn't want you to be owl by yourself.

For the owl, yes. But probably unfair on the canaries, no?

I see some very sensible options on here, thank you guys.
If this "uuuhuuu-uhuuuu-uhhuuuuu" persists, I will ask my landlord if I can chop down the tree. He should be alright with it, it's an old tree anyways. Maybe I can replace it with something more pleasant like a palmtree or a vending machine. Will keep you updated.

One that goes ker-ching, and three little bells ring, when it's used? And a buzzer if the vendable product isn't?

I don't know, just something simple which offers cigarettes and energy drinks to kids on their way to school.

No, as a matter of fact, I did not. I wrote a passive aggressive note.

The whole dog idea was never going to work, your best chance is with a pussycat and a beautiful pea-green boat. It will only cost you a fiver (money went spent for a peaceful repose). And even if it doesn't work it will have been a hoot...

No to Fireworks? A firearm in this country requires lower cost than an appropriately dangerous raptor, have decent resale value and require no 2 year course. Although shooting things out your window might result in the forced resale and some new accommodation for yourself.

They say that sounds of nature make people happier.

(There is an owl where I go back home and we kinda worship it, it makes us feel like in a deep forest, not a city, I don't mind the sounds, it takes me to my childhood forest summer camps).
