anyone ever bought a product to market?

I have a rather spiffing idea for a new product, should be nice and cheap to produce and something that every house could use, but have no idea how to bring it to market, protect it, who to approach etc

so anyone out there any experience?

Re: anyone ever bought a product to market?

just to add I know people who have been royally screwed over by huge multinationals stealing their idea when they "just sent them in" for appraisal

Re: anyone ever bought a product to market?

Usually the idea is to Patent the unique part of it before going anywhere near the big guys. The patent should if possible cover the a few different ideas which stops someone from just changing a bit or two and calling it a different product.

I've only konwn one person who went through the whole thing for a biomedical device, I've not talked to him in years but I know at the time he was banging his head against the wall most of the time.

Is there patent lawyers in this country who might be able to point you in the right direction?

Sorry, I don't have any personal experience but I found this link which might help https://www.ige.ch/en/protecting-you...you-apply.html

Been there done that, but in the UK.

What you need most is capital (money to you and me).

To:
Patent it
Make it
Market it
Sell it
Bill it...

The secret is to do this with a product cheap enough that you can do all of the above & keep 100% control, rather than handing over & getting nearer 1% of the profits

Do you have law insurance? Not that I get in a lot of trouble but they are not making a profit! Their advice is good over the phone even if they don't/can't act on your behalf.

I see a cool 3d printed pooperscooper hitting the market soon! 😃😃😃😃😃😃😃

Re: anyone ever bought a product to market?

This is the official Swiss patent office:
https://www.ige.ch/en.html

If the invention is really interesting, I'd probably think of just protecting the design, then try to sell all the rights to the "big boys" and let them fight it out.

Start with a search of the European Patent Office... then build a prototype, if you find nothing.
