Re: Office workers are the days of working in the office coming to an end ?

I've been remote working for a while on various projects, and picked up a nanny job to top up the budget due to covid.

I have to say I am enjoying being paid to take a small baby for long walks each day. Can't even run chores with baby...due to trying to limit contact because of covid.

It's very different clocking hours actually worked, vs turning up to an office and being paid for turning up.

I'm juggling both right now... work offers are picking back up, one 5 year project will wrap up mostly by end of October...

But it works much better when my kids and husband have regular work schedules and are not working from home too!

Lockdown sucked, but freelancing is quite nice as long as someone else is paying the main expenses, and my income is the 'bonus'.

I need physical hardware, and there is only so much I can fit at home or keep in the garage for rotatation!

As for working from home in 'A Place in the Sun' here's another BBC report on keeping your
home country job but doing your home country job from abroad.

BBC news - Can I work from home overseas ?

Not if you have a CEO like in our company who insisted we all had to come back on April 15 (!!!)

According to the german saying: Vertrauen ist gut, Kontrolle ist besser (trust is ok, to control is better) 😡
Our CEO was like that.

We're now at 50% work from home (or rather: at least 50% in the office) and I expect that to stay forever. I currently do three days in the office and two at home (Thursday and Friday usually).

Productivity is probably vastly increased, coffee-bill vastly reduced (we were probably going through close to 30k capsules per year), the office isn't that crowded anymore and thus the need to rent a bigger one is a much less pressing issue.
