Funniest/nicest/weirdest thread on EF?

Was wondering which thread - apart from the obvious ones that go on and on and on - has most stuck in your mind?

Mine was the lovely story of a prolonged stomach bug that months later turned out to be a lovely baby boy.

trying to lighten up the day and mood

Re: Funniest/nicest/weirdest thread on EF?

The best thread ever was a car sale thread by JLF + her partner Nelly_Da_Hefferlump.
They were trying to recycle an Audi bought from Nil for less than 800 CHF when she left Basel for Spain. The asking price was more than twice the price 18 months & 20,000 km later. The forum did not approve as Nil was a very popular member for several years after leaving CH

Unfortunately sale threads get deleted, this was a classic, the amount of neg rep given out by the pair probably was a record.

Amusingly JFL started a thread on anger management soon after. (searchable)

Re: Funniest/nicest/weirdest thread on EF?

This one goes in the category nice and kind. A mother, an EF member who now lives outside of Switzerland, called for help for her young adult daughter. Quickly, many people offered items of furniture and furnishings, or transport, or a emotional support. Lovely.

What about the one from a some pharma salesperson that racked up 200k+ kms on a leased X6 and wanted to shift it for market price of a new one?

Re: Funniest/nicest/weirdest thread on EF?

Here's one that's:

Not necessarily nice.
Not necessarily weird.
Not necessarily funny (though wit abounds)

I really enjoyed reading Natasha's posts simply because she was one bad ass whose sassiness was a pleasure to read at a time when women should have been shy and demure.

When I threw her name into the search function, this thread popped up.

https://www.englishforum.ch/forum-su...e-grow-up.html

Not much has changed and to be honest, it probably never will.

There have been quite a few threads started by people trying to shift scuffed and battered Ikea junk for more than it costs new.

Re: Funniest/nicest/weirdest thread on EF?

I liked anything Polaris was in...Richard, Nathu, Natasha. Jenny - our kind insurance expert. I think that's why I joined, for the down to earth, quite humanitarian but quite realistic and brief spirit.

As per hilarious stuff, Nil was good, Canadian Dude was a riot!

Generally, I sensed more tolerance back then for misfits, less validation seeking.

But to be honest, I like really bad jokes, so for me it still is the one and only worst bad joke challenge.
