Making shoes great again (by replacing the insoles in them)...

Over the years there have been so many pairs of shoes that have looked good but not been so comfortable to wear. In my ignorance, I thought that this was just the way it was. Well, no more.

I was in Decathlon last month and saw the soles they sell. I decided to try one of each of these:

Leather ones for hiking boots 12chf each: https://www.decathlon.ch/de/p/einleg...270?mc=8543964

Synthetic ones for normal shoes 6chf each https://www.decathlon.ch/de/p/einleg...8543963&c=GRAU

Wow, what a transformation and when I tried them they were far more comfortable than the insoles that came with some of the shoes that I put them in. An expensive pair of Adidas Chile 62 that I hated wearing as they were so uncomfortable? They now rock. My pair of Lowe hiking boots which were slightly too big and roomy without good foot support? I can now walk on them comfortably all day nice and snug. I am now replacing all my my shoe insoles that were not so comfortable or cushioned to walk in.

Of course you can buy soles form other places but these were what I found and used so I am linking them. Moral of the story? Don't give up on shoes that are not so comfortable to walk in before you try putting a new insole in there first.

They also sell 'superfeet' with various level of support, used in many sports such as skiing. I have been using superfeet inserts in trainers for at least 10 years.

I've been using insoles for so long. Mainly for arch, orthopaedic ones with metal arch. Works wonders, it corrects everything.

I have never heard of insoles with metal support, they sound interesting. Do you recommend a particular brand?

I got fitted for custom orthotics years ago and they saved my knees but they are MEGA expensive, so I'm interested to try any cheaper alternative that might provide equivalent support.

I haven't seen them here, sorry that I can't help, I get them in CZ. It is something like this, but with a little bit higher support:

I know Bama used to make something similar, too. Maybe they exist here.

The ones I saw here that were a bit similar were in Deichmann.

There is a shoe repair guy in Zug old town that does custom fit insoles et al with his brother whose Praxis is Orthorama. Excellent service & reasonable prices.
