Re: Another one bites the dust...

Yawn...

If I were one of the demoted Mods, I would probably leave, too, due to EB's lack of communication and lack of respect for my yrs long contribution. That is really crappy treatment! And I wouldn't judge anyone negatively who leaves in protest.

What this has nothing to do with is FMF's appointment as a Mod. Will every future Mod appointment come under scrutiny if they aren't from "your side?"

WRT to a backroom coup, unless you have information that is not public, then you are only speculating and working yourself into a frenzy.

Not sure what is up with V's reinstatement, but not really a big deal as we ALL know that many banned/flounced members have come back under new UserNames. I actually find it kind of amusing to try and guess who some of these folks are. And we all can use the IGNORE function to make them disappear from our feeds again.

My suggestion to people who are angry about current events is that they spend less time in the Off Topic section and go back to helping each other in the core sections of EF... kind of like volunteering in a soup kitchen!

Summer is here and I am looking forward to taking July off from work and EF.

Good to see that you are not still butthurt.

As far as I can tell, a bet's a bet. Nothing to do with this latest stuff.

Stop threatening to flounce. Scram chump.

I never complained against him so hardly a vendetta. You are being overdramatic or what!

Yes, I'll shortly be following my fellow ex-mod. A very sad day. I urge any of you who feel that this has gone too far to consider doing the same. Do bear in mind that in many cases some traces of your posting history or identity may remain, so a carefully-worded request for "complete" deletion, not leaving any posts from you under the name "guest", and ensuring that threads that you started do not show up still showing your name as the starter, would be required.

This isn't "business as normal", this is the death of a forum.
Hey, this is a bit sad.

Users like me are the forum. A flock of sheep is composed by sheep. The shepherd is just a shepherd, not the flock.

Re: Another one bites the dust...

Just delete already, then... If I were in your shoes, I would do the same, as I agree that you were treated badly. No question where I stand on that in 100% solidarity with you.

But the parting shots to FMF (a takeover, really?!?) and screeching about "the death of a forum" are OTT.

PS - Remember that posts like this are just going to help EF by creating more traffic. A bit ironic...

This should be part of a sticky or in a forum announcement so that other users can delete properly if that is their wish.

Can you actually do that. From a GDPR point of view, anonymisation is sufficient. Per forum rules, I think that the ownership of your posts is with The Local - you can't ask for something to be deleted that is not yours, or am I wrong here?

AFAIK there are some rules in GDPR that allow exactly that and that would overrule any agreement you had/have with f.e. The Local.

But then I am (luckily) not an expert on GDPR, so maybe someone can say what the GDPR ruling says.

By the looks of it, you own the posts, but the Local has a perpetual right to use them.

Well, the next step will be to demand brainwashing everybody one has ever talked to in order to delete what ever one ever said to them.

And then your maths-professor demands that done .... and your language teacher .... the guy who taught you driving ....

Do you honestly believe that after some moderators leave, this will be the end of the forum?
Well as someone who has been around for 15 years, I’d say it has been on a downward path from sometime now. It was a great resource and a place I took seriously for many years, but now it more of a way to past time while I’m waiting for o bus or something like that.

The people that have left or are leaving were a knowledge resource that won’t be there to answer new arrivals questions going forward, on the other hand we’re not seeing to many new arrival questions in any case…..

Clearly the site has not met the owners expectations in terms of advertising and they have not given it much love either. So I suspect if it gives them a bit of a hassle, say a legal issue with one or more former members, it will be taken down very quickly.

So now EB has a "Merrie Band?!?" It was my understanding that he ignores everybody these days (though he answered a PM of mine in late 2020).

Talk about polarising...

I'm guessing it's more to do with the acceptable behaviour section. Something EB and his Merrie Band should refamiliarise themselves with.

You mean again?

In other news V has been unbanned, no idea by whom.
That's because they're already planning a takeover....watch your back, FMF!

In other news, since there's so much inclusiveness now, can Mr. Trump join EF? It seems he's been left out by the bad kids.

I remember when McDB left. There was a huge shake up at that time too but EF obviously survived. I still miss his posts.

Sorry to see so many good people go.
