You know that if you grow a beard but don't have it on your driving license picture your license is not valid.
a bit like the spaghetti strainer if you believe in the spaghetti monster?

Women, take care of their skin- everyday, hair, eyebrows, eyelashes, legs , etc... men, zero effort per month (a tiny haircut if they have some hair) and then "oh I have a beard , have to shave every 3days , NOOOOOO" "I'll make myself something like Sparrow or old DUTCH " so I save timeeeee
I don't think most men shave every three days. More like, if you miss a day it shows at once. Maybe it also depends on the colour of the hair.

So actually the main reason I shave every day is to not look scruffy in the office. My OH says she likes the 5 days unshaven look on me so in home office that tends to be the way it goes.

When it comes to discomfort for the other person, I think actually a 3-days unshaven face is more prickly than a properly grown beard because the hairs tend to lie flat as they get longer.

Re: What's the point of having a beard??

mmm finally some scientifical approach to this mystery ))) The thing is , as I said, once people like each other then everything is possible.. and it's true , not shaved for couple of days does not enter any of those 27 beard styles

But what's confusing is .. let's say a guy he's 32 and decides to go for one of those 27styles or even worse, a guy ...40+ divorced or just single wants to meet and kiss ? so he goes "hmmm I'll make one " A la souvarov" and she'll be seduced" ))

Maybe you should survey the ladies if you want to find out if there is any statistical preference.

And maybe the guys too. Are bearded guys less succesful at dating?

Is it just a fashion trend or what is it, that men wear a beard?? I've been observing lately and ok, I know there was that fashion trend "lumberjack" and all that, but it doesn't make sense.
I blame George Michael.

As for 40+: zero hair above the larynx feels really naked. You gotta wear sumting.

Seem to be, once men turn 40 they're like "oh BEARD TIME now, I got Lazzzyyyy" and they grow it more and more or keep it at "brad pitt" level but I dont understand the point of it
It's a defense mechanism against those silly kiss-kiss-kiss on the cheek
And it keeps the other men's beard from scratching you when it can't be avoided.

Re: What's the point of having a beard??

The Hollywoodian combined with short back and sides looks a lot like what seemed to be popular with the groups of men going to The Canaries etc looking for a good time but it can't have worked as I never saw them with any women. They had their finest white t-shirts on too.

hmm Urs max and Landers, you both raised the question , if maybe.. all this beard thing (more than a half out of those 27 styles) is linked with some dose of gayness

Interesting question.

Most everybody knows George's "Last Christmas". Santa Claus has a massive beard, that
connection can't be overlooked. Then there's the reindeers, they wear nothing but fur and can fly.

Maybe men, getting bald, are imitating them? Beard as a
fur replacement, like R. Kelly in the clip for "I believe I can fly"?

But the interesting question is: what did *you* get for xmas?

I think we gotta distinguish between what it looks like and what it feels like.

FD - beards seem to be ok for our OT area, I am not moving it.

Frankly speaking, 99% of the things that women do in the "taking care" department does not interest me. I have never been into girls who wear a torture device called high heels, waste money on fake long nails, shave their pussy, get those horrible looking lip fillings etc.

I like sporty ladies who are clean and fit!

Stubble hurts when kissing, but a beard like this does not hurt. Does the hair on your head hurt a man? It is the same, but on the face. None of the goats I have been with ever complained

You need to stop hanging with nerdy teenage boys

My dad, when bald but with a beard came home one day really pissed off. He said he was walking through the park and some yobby youth called out "oi mate! You've got your head on upside down!"

Some of my last meal is in my beard, when I get hungry again I eat from it. Ideal when I don‘t have time to cook or go to a restaurant.

No mention of beards and covid masks ..?

I think it looks bizarre, a guy with a blue mask on and hair sticking out all 4 sides!!

Assuming it's a guy, wrong to make assumptions these days.

LOL

The privilege of the young.
Like "cute things children say", except it's not perceived as cute any longer

Re: What's the point of having a beard??

Beards seem to become more prevalent with the emergence of these bourgeoisie hipsters. You know the kind. Typically wearing a plaid shirt and €150 tennis shoes that tweet on their €1000 iPhone whilst sipping a €5 skinny latte how capitalism has failed them and how house prices are too high in the area that they themselves have gentrified.
