We have pubic hair so it retains our scent in order to attract mates.

Re: What's the point of having a beard??

Urs Max and cannut , ha ha ha

The thing is, while driving just before I was thinking of the ratio , how much do hairy furry cromagnon men get laid comparing to the smooth, stylish ones?

Then, maybe I'm just about to fix that world problem as well, because men will realise how they're having lower sex activity because women cant be bothered to go through all that prickly bush and she cant even really see his face (that's covered with that hair) )

Men wish to increase (perhaps) that ratio and they're thinking "I'm having more chances by being the cromagnon" but they're not realising it's working against them ?

Pancakes, "we" is maybe too optimistic )) Me, I attract with my 30 cheesy math jokes and knowledge of the 19th century industrial revolution together with my knowledge of the Argentine Great Depression 1998-2002 and who falls in that trap falls for the rest , I dont care

ennui, finally you came down here in the grown-up section of the forum where all the baddies are hiding

I'm having the same opinion as your grandfather ..And what's interesting at one stage (18,19th century) men where supposed to wear moustache and the wise men (like priests, yogi, rabbi, spiritual leaders) were supposed to have beard.

And all this ended and after the 2nd WW we have all good looking men being without beard, moustache etc.. only to end this recently and it's insane..I remember year ago I was at the irish pub in basel, well , 9 1/2 out 10 men were all with a beard or some facial hair, it felt as if I'm in Teheran in 1979 ayatollah revoulion

Here are some unique examples.

And here are the beard categories

https://www.worldbeardchampionships.com/categories

My husband is mostly a stubble guy, although occasionally he ventures into wildman category. It‘s not scratchy though. He sometimes has a goatee, which I rather like, but it requires precision maintenance. One thing about beards and such though……they grow back.

Doesn't the occasional application of soap and water diminish the effect ?

Re: What's the point of having a beard??

Speaking from personal experience is difficult for me on this topic as I've yet to kiss a bearded man.

On the other side of the argument I know of 2 friends, one shaved his beard and his missus told him to regrow it as soon as possible. Whether to hide his face or general fluffiness I don't know.
The other grew a beard after being together for about 4 years, he suggested shaving it but was told to keep it if possible.

So there's all sorts in this world.

Re: What's the point of having a beard??

A beard touching my skin makes me feel a bit nauseous, it grosses me out. Absolutely no issue with body hair (within reason, the full gorilla suit look is not my preference), but anything past ten days of not shaving your face is a hard pass.

However, I can appreciate the beauty of a well-groomed proper beard and am not mad at the "old-school hairstyle with a neat beard" look. "Lazy" beards outright disgust me, I think a lot of men don't realise that looking after a beard is actually not much less work than keeping your face clean shaven.

Glue which will inevitably fail leaving a trail of sparkles around the place like some sort of damaged fairy.
