You know nothing about women. Yes, some laughed... but many wanted to talk to me. Guys were buying me drink because they said they wished they had the balls to do that and pick up the freaky girls.

Re: embarrassing moments as an adult.

A dear Italian female friend just reminded me of this as it still constantly happens to her but not to me anymore, or let's say less often banging one's head either against the wall when laying down in bed, or bang the head into a door, not on purpose of course, or walk into some post, while looking down .....

Re: embarrassing moments as an adult.

The nearby optician got me the contact lens solution I had ordered and showed it to me for confirmation and I said, "Genug" (enough) instead of "genau" (exactly or correct). No wonder he looked kind of put out.

Re: embarrassing moments as an adult.

I was in the UK the other week and went shopping with my mum ynd the first shop i walked into was selling paracetamol 16 for 19p couldn`t believe my eyes and thought i would stock up on them to bring back here with me, so i started filling my basket a lady who worked there was watching me so i smiled at her thinking how lucky am i buying these so cheap, when my mum came over to me and asked me what was i doing, and i explained that pain killers over here are alot more expensive so i was taking a suitcase full home with me she then said i think you can only buy 2 mmmmmmmm i thought it didn`t say that at the (now nearly empty shelves) so we walked around (me rattlling with all the pills) for a while then we came across some more where it then said i was only allowed to take 2 so i ended up spending the next 10mins filling the empty shelf up again

That has applied for quite a few years now. It is easy to lose touch with the little changes in UK life once you move away. It is a Health & Safety rule so that you cannot overdose (in theory). Nothing to stop you buying 2 and going back later, or to another shop for more. And I am not suggesting that you should overdose anyway

Re: embarrassing moments as an adult.

Paracetamol is very dangerous if taken as an overdose. It won't kill you, but it will mess up your organs.

I agree Paracetamol is dangerous, but if someone wanted to overdose on them then they would just go to different stores to buy them, so the you can only buy 2 rule seems silly to me

I read that the rule of being able to buy a max of 2 boxes is to stop the person who acts on impulse - it seems that if you are in that state of mind (and a lot of people apparently OD after an event) then you would not be in the right emotional state to visit several stores.

Re: embarrassing moments as an adult.

I was also in good old GB last week, stocking up on paracetamol (didn't see you though Mrs Sutter!!) and in a well-known store, the assistant looked at my 4 packs and said that she could only sell me two in this transaction, but could put the other 2 through on the next transaction.
Very helpful but not very legal I suppose.

I also bought shedloads of Crunchies for my students and there I could buy as many as I liked........

Thanks i guess that makes sense in a way but if the person was dead set on ODing then they would go to different stores anyway

Damn we missed each other this reminds me a few years ago i was shopping in a big store where you could scan your own items then pay at the end, i had alot of pain killers to bring back home and after scanning 2 boxes it said i couldn`t have anymore then i scanned some different items and scanned more pain killers and the machine let me keep on scanning them
