Japanese Toilet Etiquette

Are you fed up of mopping the floor and wiping the walls after you take a pee?
Are you fed up of your dolphin hitting the side of the toilet when you sit down to pee?
If the answer is "holy yes!" then you need to kneel down to pee!

There is good news for those who are currently thinking "But thy knees will hurt from kneeling down!"

A product called Tenshi no Hizamakura (Angels Knee Pillow) will solve you kneeling problems for only 5,800 yen.
As you can see from the diagram below, one either splashes all over the gaff or knocks their dolphin on the side of the toilet. The diagram on the far right shows how pee can be exposed of without fuss.

And this is how its done - by kneeling! Peeing has never been such a fun experience as you can see by the men's expressions.

does anyone have a Roomba?? is it any good? i 'm thinking of getting one.
I've got the Roomba 560 and I'm very pleased with it. I'ts pretty noisy tho so you'll probably want to get out when it's running. It does a good job of hoovering but where it really wins for me is that it is low enough to get under my sofas, tv table, wardrobes and beds. With my slack approach to domestic chores under the beds got done once a <coughs> and was pretty manky; now those bits are as clean as the rest of the floor.

I was thinking about buying the version that washes the floor but I see a lot of reviews saying they had to be returned due to faults.

No cat so I empty it about every 3,4 times. Oh and Media Markt sell it but don't sell the filters and brushes and the swiss supplier charges a load for them.

The starter kit includes the equivalent nicotine of about 100 cigarettes. Refills are under £7 for the same amount.

we also have one, they are fab!! make sure you get the newer version as the first batch had a desgin fault and the gearbox burns out (we got through 2, but roomba sent us replacements no problem) the new version has a 3 prong side brush (instead of 4) ours is set to clean everyday as our dog moults a lot. Had it over a year now, the battery life seems be suffering now, but as I said it does run everyday.

It can be a bit noisy tho, and gets mixed reviews for carpets, but on hard floors its ace, best gadget we have ever bought.

Not sure about 'Night Blogging' but it does mention than they prevent damage to the hands through constant rough contact with other objects and they prevent chafing

Re: The Gadget Thread

I share Mrs Otter's disbelief at this product. Unless one is in the process of penning a blog/post which one knows is likely to cause controversy potentially leading to banning, the amount of perspiration produced by the hands does not justify the kind of protection received by the groin area.

It's cold at night and the heating bill was getting unmanageable.

Ping Pong From A Doorway

Doors can be fun. No seriously they really can. The Ping Pong Door functions just like any ordinary door except there’s an inner panel that flips down to make a ping pong table. Pop the little plastic net on and get your paddles ready. The only requirements are the adjacent rooms have enough room for you to play in. The only downside is one side of the door looks normal while the other is bright green. Try fitting that into your home decor.

Designer: Tobias Franzel

Re: The Gadget Thread

I like it! Ping-pong through a doorway indeed.
It's a non-violent, non-contact, not-very-noisy sport -- well, as long as my opponent doesn't smash the ball into my solar plexus.
