If you got that close, I don't think you'd have any choice!!

Ah me,my dear ol' Mum would love this thread, she is fatally addicted to 'gadgets'.
She likes to surround herself with them, giving any and everyone unfortunate enough to ask, the whole spiel of what they are for (sometimes you really do have to ask, as they aren't always quite that obvious!!) and how really very useful they are
I blame my Grandma for this, she actually had one of those electrical socks

i think this foldable fridge concept is pretty clever, although i wonder about 2 things: what is the sealing integrity and heat loss in comparison with a regular fridge

Re: The Gadget Thread

A friend got me a microplane grater from the States last year and it's been my favourite 'gadget' in the kitchen ever since. It grates orange and lemon rind ever so nicely. It also comes in a longer, narrower design. (And for those of you with overactive imaginations, no, they are NOT recommended for spanking on account of the sharp little protrusions.)

battery-powered, WiFi-detecting t-shirt from ThinkGeek.com that lights up when you're near a live network. does not detect if network is closed or open.

Hide Your Valuables In Plain (Stained) Sight

Consider BriefSafe.
It’s a pair of nasty-looking, “pre-skid marked” drawers with a hidden pocket for all your cash, passport, etc.
Add a touch of realistic, poo-smelling Doo Drops and you might not want to touch your own valuables.

Sada, first the foot fetish post and now this! I'm going to have to stop eating at my computer.

Really clever idea though! For me it's easy. I can just hide stuff in my son's socks. Nobody would ever go near those!

Re: The Gadget Thread

From the same trekking shop that sells the survival kit in a can come the following products - Sometimes a continental breakfast in the wilderness isn't good enough:

The re-useable egg carrier and the toast fixture for gas cookers, for four slices a time.

While preparing breakfast, you can listen to your radio/flashlight/phone recharger with crank charger...

We had one of these at home when I was a child (many years ago). It made regular appearances at picnics with hard-boiled eggs in it.

Here is a novel alarm clock. When the alarm goes off, the propeller flies out across the room. The alarm won't stop until the propeller is retrieved (unless you throw the base unit out of the window. I can imagine this happening)
