Re: The Gadget Thread

This one is really design without a purpose: the toasty charger. Made of plastic with unnecessary moveable parts and electricity... hmmm.

Mind Hack

i'm gonna start a "thread within a thread" here for 2 reasons: 1, i have started many threads with replies in single digits 2, most of this nested thread that i intend require gadgets too. i'll just label it "Mind Hack" in the title.

a "mind hack" (aka "hacking the brain") is a technique for "hacking" into and manipulating the way we think through different methods, for different purposes. the first one i wanna introduce is known as entrainment.

Quote:
Well, basically, the idea is that you can modify the electrical activity in your brain (the stuff that’s picked up by EEG readings) by hearing sounds that mimic those waves. But since the human hearing range doesn’t extend to that level, instead, you listen to two similar but different sounds, one in each ear, and the resonance between them delivers the effect of the frequency.
downloads can be found here. the basic brainwave generator has pre-loaded "programs" like sleep inducing, relaxing etc. i'm trying to sleep now, and tomorrow i'll try the one that makes one feel like one had coffee. will report back. if anyone does try it, do share your experience too

It looks interesting. I am looking for something along these lines. I have been thinking about the Google-Handy G1. Haven't seen them in the UK though.

Re: The Gadget Thread

democratic chess is a interesting concept, could well turn chess into a spectator sport.

Quote:
Democratic Chess is Chess game where each figure is made of an IP-WLan-network camera each capable of looking arround, listening and talking to the other figures as well as the 2 real person players. With this technology there are many different ways how to play the Game, the next move can be decided in a democratic way among the Figures or they are allowed to discuss with the players and each other the next moves, but at the End the 2 player make the moves.

It looks like a cross between a toilet and a waste-bin. Not exactly things you'd wanna associate with cooked rice, eh?

It's probably used to whack the baby a bit when he stops crawling around. (Uh-oh.)

This is what really made me laugh so much, and as there is that most strategically placed "port" given to all babies, I think the potential for marketing here is immense!!
