The Gadget Thread

I thought i'd start a post for generally gadgety stuff, stuff that challenge paradigms, identify needs, or simply make you go "whoah..." or "cooool" in a slow drawl. or devices that are just plain cool, clever, absurd ... or gadgets that you'd like to have (have, not buy).

I think it'd be interesting if I could get some EF'ers to guess what this object is, who knows, we might even be on to something new

I'll update this post with the link to the website in a few hours. in the meantime, guess away, and please, no spoilers, if you already know.

edit: its a hidden radio!

"The Hidden Radio has no obvious controls...unless you count that the radio *is* the controls...it "has either no user interface...or...is all user interface". The volume is controlled by lifting the lid of the radio (which also reveals the speaker). Tuning is done by twisting the lid. Absurdly clever."

Is it one of those lights that stave off the SAD effect by waking you up slowly in the morning with a dose of "natural light"?

Now all we is a hidden TV (maybe disguised as a chair) and then we can hide from the Biltag man completly

The Gadget Thread

for starters, maybe something a lil absurd, like this "turtleneck." (NC-16)

Re: The Gadget Thread

It's too bad my husband doesn't have time for the forum as he's a complete gadget freak! Buys all the gadget magazines and all the latest stuff that comes out. Our house is like an electronics store.

He did buy something really cool the other day. It's called Devolo (http://www.devolo.com/co_EN/index.html) Not sure exactly how it works (being a woman and blond and all that) but what I do know is that all those ugly interenet cable wires are gone in the house and now the internet is carries through the electrical wiring in the house and you just need to plus this little thing into the electric outlet and you can have internet anywhere in the house. Without the ill-effects of WIFI.

I look forward to reading about some cool stuff from others.

The Ovetto Recycling Egg is an expensive, dual-slot trash can that, for $250, allows for the separation of plastic and aluminum in one receptacle.

for folks who enjoy a good game of chess, this chess set brings a new aesthetic to the game: the pieces turn transparent when they touch the board.

i think this invention from UK is quite clever: integrated alarm clock cum tea-maker! imagine, u could wake up and smell the tea apparently they're still on the market.

now, only if they'd make one that makes coffee instead...
