"My Cross to Bear" by Gregg Allman
Stories of his life, accounts of the legendary Allman Brothers Band.
From run-ins with the law to meeting girls on the road to experimenting with drugs,Gregg holds nothing back, while also speaking, for the first time, about the painful deaths of his brother,Duane;and his dear friend & bassist Berry Oakley.
Gregg explains how the band's decision to persevere came with a heavy price—for the band and for Gregg—as he fought a battle with substance abuse.
Ahhhhsome book and stories...!

Just over half way through. A good thriller, fast moving, but a very frightening idea behind the book!
Recommend to all
Enjoy the long weekend all
GREG | | | | | I second that, just finished over the weekend!!! What a great read, could not put the book down!!

What a great read, could not put the book down!! | | | | | And I'll 'third' that - Dan Brown's Inferno - square in the middle and plan to finish tonight. If you can't read it, you can always wait for the movie. There's no movie YET but Sony has the rights.

I've promised myself for years to read it and now with my Kindle I have it, - Portnoy's Complaint, by Philip Roth, it's absolutely entertaining and Roth let's his imagination really fly. Super.

Try reading the RIVERS OF LONDON books by Ben Aaronovitch.
Great entertainment! The fourth book is out at the end of July.
(A good Cigar, a nice glass of Single Malt, the Kindle in hand. Relaxing on the terrace on a warm evening... smirking at the world )
Have a good summer All

Has anybody read "The Hundred Year Old Who Cilmbed Out a Window and Disappeared"?
Am I the only one or is the English translation rather poor and even wrong in places?
Edit: Or maybe I just can't read....

I am reading " Er ist wieder da" (T. Vermes). It's better and more cleverly made than I thought. Style is strange, nobody will ever know how Hitler would speak/write as narrator. But writing the way he wrote his real book would be stylistically speaking just impossible to read nowadays. Probably a necessary compromise but nonetheless disappointing.
One must know Germany very well to read this book, otherwise, most of it will be misunderstood or not understood at all. |
