Re: What are you currently reading?

Last Night in Twisted River by John Irving.

Mr Irving's not really my cup of tea, but I "have" to read this one for a reading group I've joined. It's better than expected...

Well, World According to Garp and A Prayer for Owen Meany are two of my all time favorites. And some of Until I Find You takes place in Zurich...need to pick up his latest.

Re: 'Until I Find You' was a hardcover book I borrowed from the Cham library. It made me want to visit the Kronenhalle, the expensive restaurant mentioned, on the walls of which are Picassos. Have yet to do it though.

Re: What are you currently reading?

I am reading Nathalie Sarraute, "Pour un oui ou pour un non" and have her "Les Fruits d'Or", "L'Enfance" and "L'Usage de la Parole" ligned up. Then I am in the middle of "Superfreakonomics" I bought for my hubby, I got caught up in it on the train, though, oops, he will have it tomorrow...
Then I am reading up stats on mother tongue acquisition in CH, interesting as well..

Re: What are you currently reading?

The restaurant is pricey, but they have a great bar that is attached. Met some real characters there.

Why is Candide your favorite? Am looking for memorable reading material...naturally know the title and author but never read it(must have been on some teachers suggested reading list, sometime, somewhere). thanks

Re: What are you currently reading?

Haruki Murakami. I love all of his books, especially "Kafka on the seashore". I've heared that he's more kind of author wither you love or you hate... I can understand that, as he's style is quite unusual...

I won't presume to answer for Tomcat, but for the theologically-minded interested in Luther, I can recommend Luther's The Bondage of the Will.

Meanwhile, thanks to recommendations in this very thread, I just completed Thumbprint (Wachtmeister Studer) by Friedrich Glauser, and am now beginning Fever (Die Fieberkurve).

The Girl with the Dragon Tatto by Larsson.
I just finished the second one, The Girl who played with fire. Need to give this one back to my friend for her to give me #3! It's like going to my deal to get my fix! Addicting!

Don't know what I'll do when I finish the last book?! LOL.
