What's so special about Sunday ? ...

Here comes a question ...
What's so special about Sunday ? ...

not too long ago, an expat, single, told me this was more or less his worst day of the week ...

Sundays here are boring, and I'd guess especially for a single person. Shops are closed, people will tend to stay at home with family. If your single that means less opportunity to meet other human beings.

Alternative take : being single you've spent your saturday night drinking and partying and sunday is spent recovering from the hangover ;-)

Re: What's so special about Sunday ? ...

i like sunday mornings and early afternoons. i specifically enjoy doing having a nice breakfast and then spend my time reading papers and drinking coffee!

and after a certain point during the day i start getting rather miserable, thinking that tomorrow is monday and it will be 5 whole days before it is a weekend again! apart from this week, i'm off from wednesday onwards!

Exactly the same for me (and many others, I suspect!)
From lunchtime on.....................here comes Monday again......

But it's a nice, relaxing family day - breakfast together, tasty lunch, maybe a walk (in the snow)
Yeah, that's nice!!

Re: What's so special about Sunday ? ...

Sunday, bloody Sunday, as I believe U2 put it (although I doubt they had Switzerland in mind when they wrote it, unless for tax purposes).
Most boring damn' day of the week. It means that if there's anything noisy to be done (like making something), then it has to be crammed into the same day as the big shopping trip, trips out to other shops like Ikea, trips to places that close on Sundays, etc. So Saturday is pretty busy and then on Sunday, the square root of sod all happens, apart from taking the kids to one of a small number of places that are a) open, b) not snow-bound and c) not on the far end of an expensive train trip.
And those bells...
I did consider leaving a note on the washing machine soon after we moved in saying 'my god says I can do washing on a Sunday', but none of the locals in our block pay any attention to Sunday washing laws.
Did I mention the bells?
