Do you give a name to your car ? ? ?

I never realised people gave their car a name, do you ?

I mean they, and me too,
talk to the car but actually giving it a name ...

Of course....

My old car: "The Green Hornet"
My new car: "Blackie"

Talk to it.. not really... only petting it.. when I overtake fast cars...

Re: Do you give a name to your car ? ? ?

My previous car was called the beast... the exhausted had rusted through so it growled and roared like a beast

My current car is called the tractor... its a gutless wonder which sounds very much like a tractor.

Yup, I talk to inanimate objects but only because I live a lone and justify talking to myself that way..

Re: Do you give a name to your car ? ? ?

i never have called a car anything other than "my car...".

but when my partner and i had two cars, we called the first car the "blue car" on the pretence that it was electric blue in colour... (although this may have confused some people given that the second car was also blue... but much darker, almost purply) but it worked for us to make the distinction!

although back to the point, my old housemate called her first car, a grey ford fiesta "dusty" and her then boyfriend called his poserish red bmw "the snake" so you are not alone.

Re: Do you give a name to your car ? ? ?

yes, depends on the car... some just don't have enough "personality" or something. we've had a "waldo" and a "jimmy" But don't actually talk to the car.

with talking I mean like " will you start up now " or "oh come on now, not again" that kinda thing ... more talking to oneself probably, or you get a flat tire and start swearing ...

Please have a lie down on this sofa, Miss Sada, and tell me what you are saying to your lift and cable. Depending on your answers, I will have to ask a few questions about your family and your early childhood.

yeah, okay.. that I did, but only with my last car, since only after a year it died completely on us... but it was in the end and more like "com'on you @#@", or "what the f@###@"..... ended with "HOW MUCH to fix, no way, now it's the dead hornet"... although, I still miss that car, since it was my first, so I took some things from it to remember it by and scracthed its name into the side of the car, before sending it to the scrapyard...

RIP Green Hornet....

Re: Do you give a name to your car ? ? ?

I don't name my car, but my guitars had allways girl's names.

My bicycles don't have a name, but I refer to them as a "she" ( bicycle is feminine in Italian and Spanish and Masculine in French, neuter in German )

a Car is masculine in english and spanish, neuter in German, but was feminine in Italian and French.

I'd call her Ursula probably....

Re: Do you give a name to your car ? ? ?

My first car was named Petunia. She was a bright purple Hyundai Excel which would simply conk out if the wind blew the wrong way. I don't know why, but the car reminded me of a cow in its last days, out to Pasture.

Thus, Petunia.

Re: Do you give a name to your car ? ? ?

We never named our 1st Volvo, it was sad to let her go though , in good shape and 370 000km. The garage told us they are shipping her to Africa, hope she found a good owner..

My dad had a Russian car LADA for 25 years that was indistructible. He called her "Hilda", short for "Brunhilda" .
