Re: All-time best movie quotes

(To a school class):

"Value this time in your life, kids. 'Cause this is the time in
your life when you still have your choices. It goes by so fast.

When you're a teenager, you think you can do anything and you do.
Your twenties are a blur.

Thirties. You raise your family. You make a little money. And
you think to yourself, "What happened to my twenties?"

Forties. You grow a little pot belly. You grow another chin. The
music starts to get too loud. One of your old girlfriends from high school
becomes a grandmother.

Fifties. You have a minor surgery. You call it a "procedure."
But it's a surgery.

Sixties. You'll have a major surgery. The music is still loud,
but it doesn't matter, because you can't hear it anyway.

Seventies. You and the wife retire to Fort Lauderdale. Start
eating dinner at two o'clock in the afternoon. Get lunch around ten. Breakfast, the night before. Spend most of your time wandering around
malls looking for the ultimate soft yogurt and muttering, "How come the
kids don't call? How come the kids don't call?"

The eighties. You'll have a major stroke. You end up babbling to
some Jamaican nurse who your wife can't stand but you call "Mama."

Any questions?"

(Billy Crystal in City Slickers.)

Also:

"'Course I'm respectable. I'm old. Politicians, ugly buildings, and whores all get respectable if they last long enough."

(John Huston in Chinatown)

Re: All-time best movie quotes

Love movies and have tons of fave quotes! I found this one from "Any Given Sunday" very motivating:

TONY D: You know, when you get old, in life, things get taken from you. I mean, that's... that's... that's a part of life. But, you only learn that when you start losin' stuff. You find out life's this game of inches, so is football. Because in either game - life or football - the margin for error is so small. I mean, one half a step too late or too early and you don't quite make it. One half second too slow, too fast and you don't quite catch it. The inches we need are everywhere around us. They're in every break of the game, every minute, every second. On this team we fight for that inch. On this team we tear ourselves and everyone else around us to pieces for that inch. We claw with our fingernails for that inch. Because we know when add up all those inches, that's gonna make the difference between winning and losing! Between living and dying! I'll tell you this, in any fight it's the guy whose willing to die whose gonna win that inch. And I know, if I'm gonna have any life anymore it's because I'm still willing to fight and die for that inch, because that's what living is, the six inches in front of your face.

I don't know much about American Football, but this was a really good film and when Al Pacino went into this monologue...it blew me away.

Then there's this one by Morgan Freeman in Shawshank Redemption:"You get busy livin'... or get busy dying."

Thanks Mud.
