That was rather interesting to listen to on BBC Newshour last night !!! ...
I thought Fiat was about to disappear alltogether not too long ago.

A few months ago FIAT analysed and concluded that only 5-6 big player will remain in Auto ind.in the world, therefore they are aggresively looking oversees to be one of those top players and not extinct!

crap, that means I drive a Fiat now :-) (Fiat PT Cruiser, doesn't sound right...)
