| | embarassing bodies
has anyone been watching " embarassing bodies" on C4? i can't bear to watch it as it is so graphic. for example last night they showed a lady who had flaps on her bum (don't ask) and they showed it on tv
last week we got an eyeful of what was basically a pelvic exam...
but i have friends who love to watch the program. i admit having the voyeuristic fascination with other people's yucky bits but sometimes i think it can just put you off your dinner...!
why would anyone agree to show their bum or other private parts on tv? especially when there is something freakishly wrong with it? (do these people get paid alot?)
warning : the vid talks about poop...

I watched one episode last week where this woman had a HUGE vagina. Graphic indeed! It was disgusting to watch. They showed her private parts clearly. You could even see her uterus through her vagina.
I suppose it makes for interesting viewing, but definitely not during dinner. Same goes for Clean House ... can't believe people can live in such filth.

Quality TV. Maybe that's why I don't watch any, seems that my remote cam installed in the neighbor's toilet bowl is saving my licensing fee charge from Billag.
There are going to be such choice options to add clichés to this thread, that I have no option other than to start. Channel 4 are literally scraping the bottom of the u-bend to fill their programs....

Filthy toilet bowls & disgusting disease riddled kitchens put me off just as much as 'embarassing' genitalia !

I think it just makes me panic about anything I've missed that could potentially kill my family - germs...! I much prefer Perfect Housewife because you feel good about your nice clean home, AND you learn easier ways of keeping it that way |

| | | | | never saw that episode but it sounds vile...
though i have to add i find smelly armpit syndrome is normally found on the person who is hanging onto the armband on the tube/train/tram standing closest to me |

Have to confess I have a fascination with that Embarrassing Bodies series and, to be fair, before the programme and before the end of each ad break the announcer does say that there will be graphic scenes of nudity and intimate examination.
Found the guy with the acne-riddled scalp fascinating!

Watched every episode and find it fascinating. I certainly wouldn't call the show "vile" or "disgusting" but then I am not easily shocked. Thats why they have the warning beforehand for the prudish and squeamish. |

Though this guy had two types of bacterial infection, that his doctor had put him on anti-biotics for six months for, though with no results.
For some reason it reminded me about this scene from Robocop (1) |

i also like the house show and must admit that i watch the nanny story also avidly - isn't it cruel that the tv producers have run out of any new ideas and have now turned the camera around - to US!!! i wonder what they will come up with next - our bodies, our child raising 'disability', our marraiges (wife swap), our houses...so, where do you think they'll go next? maybe they should show what really happens at school? or uni? or how your food gets to your table...fascinating stuff!!!

It is very educative and I believe it is one of the Best British show. I do like a lot what it is produce in the UK in term of educational shows. Same with Supersize vs Superskinny, and all the alike. They don't do just sensasionalism but put a lot of great informations, support and help in the shows.

I think it is a bit like the Car Crash mentality: you know that you shouldn't really look but that seems to make it more compelling.
Another series in a similar vein (pun intended) is 'Monsters Inside Me'. Don't look at link if you are squeamish!!! |
