Tissot T-Touch is very unreliable

I bought the Tissot T-Touch Watch 3 years ago for around $800. But the touch screen sensors are dying one by one.

After googling around, I found out that I am not alone with such problem, the touch screen problem is rather common problem for t-touch owners all around the world.

I sent few emails regarding the poor quality watch to Swatch Customer Care from Tissot Website. So far no single reply back from them.

I went to their Customer Care in Singapore, they simply asked me to send the watch for service with service charge of $178. I asked them the reason why the so called swiss technology is so unreliable. They simply told me that 3-4 years is reasonable for servcing the watch.

I was shocked that my japanese technology Casio Protrek tripple sensors watch still function very well. the Tissot which carrys the swiss flag as part of its logo could not work for more than 3 years.

I believe the upkeep to pay $178 for every 3-4 years is way too high. if the watch really got design or technical problem. Tissot should bear the cost, in stead of asking consumer to pay for the repair every 3-4 years.

Wow, this is very good to hear, since I JUST bought one for my husband. I am thinking of returning it.....has anyone else had bad or good experiences with this? If I return, I'm not sure what to get in replace of that....was thinking about an automatic.

Is there anything actually wrong with the one you bought for your husband?

Why be influenced by what a 'one-post wonder' from Singapore writes on a Swiss-based forum?

Well, you're right, but this isn't the first one I read about the reliability of this watch. After I bought it, I went online to read about it and started to regret the purchase. I think about 50% of the reviews I read were negative, but who knows, it could just be that the pissed off people went onilne to write about it and the happy people are just happy with no complaints. Still, I'm not sure about keep this watch or not. Right now it's new and in perfect condition, but I don't want to have to deal with it breaking down in the future esp. if it was hundreds of $$.

Anyone else have one of these?

I've moved this to off topic, as the only thing related to Switzerland is the watch happens to be from a Swiss company. Even the original poster isn't living in Switzerland.

Re: Tissot T-Touch is very unreliable

Bear in mind that people are way more likely to complain than to write a glowing review. So if 50% of reviews you have read are negative than would mean that a lot more than 50% of people are happy with their watches.

And bear in mind that the service cost quoted would have taken into account the shipping costs from singapore to switzerland and back.

my advice is to send the watch for service a month before the warranty expires.

btw, with automatic watches it is advised that you send it in for service once a year.

cheers,

edwin

Re: Tissot T-Touch is very unreliable

I have had a Tissot T-touch since 2001. I have had no problems with it and am still actually on the original battery. I like the watch very much. My only problem with it is that it is a bit large. It took me a little while to get used to it. A The touch screen is handy to use and cool. When I bought it they only had 2 versions of the T-touch. Now there a about seven different product lines of the t-touch. If they didnt work well, I cant imagaine them having so many different types now.

Here is a link to a reveiw of them done back in 2004.
http://www.watchreport.com/2004/12/review_of_the_t.html

The watch comes with a two year guarantee so you shouldnt have any worries. My wife knows someone that did have a problem with theirs and when he took it in they gave him a new one.

I have seen many counterfeit watches from China that look almost like exactly like swiss ones, perhaps the person from singapore bought a fake....

Re: Tissot T-Touch is very unreliable

It is not a fake, since I had brought it back to Swatch Customer Care in Singapore, they asked me to send it in for service. If it is fake, I don't think the technicain will allow me to send it in for repair, right???

I am glad yours are ok. I was also doing the same thing to another friend of mine, his touch screen died after 2 years. He had to pay 158.00 Singapore Dollar to fix it. I thought he must be misusing the watch.

Now my turn, T-Touch centre sensor stopped working, I went to the Customer Care and waited for 2 hours, they ask me to paid 178.00 Singapore Dollar to fix the problem. Only one thing I know is that I took care of the watch in good condition.

Hi fluffylily,

The watch itself is cool, but the touch sensor circuit is not well protected. The problem is that although the watch is water resistance, but the touch sensor circuit is not. after 3 years my watch's touch sensor circuit are damaged (according the Swatch Customer Care Technician) as I often wash hands with the watch on.

There is no other kind watch as great as this so far. I think your husband will like it. just to remember don't wet the watch and send it in for sevice before warrant expiried.

Or you can try the Casio Protrek Tripple Sensors watch. Got everything but it don't look as good as T-Touch. However, it very very reliable.

I posted the complaint because that the TISSOT Customer Care is really don't care at all. I send them few emails so far. I got no reply back.

I cannot argue what you stated, since I got no statistic to support what I am going to say. But if you try email Tissot Customer Care or visit them. You should know why I am so pissed off.

Swiss-based forum... I thought TISSOT is swiss brand and it carries swiss flag as part of its logo.

I wrote a complaint against a swiss brand in complaint corner in Swiss-based forum. If it is not allowed to complain a swiss brand in Swiss-based forum, I am sorry about it.

The point AbFab was making is that this is a forum for English speaking people living in Switzerland and not a place for people to complain about Swiss products regardless of how valid their complaints are.

zyu76, whilst we might be sympathetic to your complaints, you can be sure that there is nothing we can do here.

On the bright side, I paid the same to fix a Tag Heuer when it went tits-up. C'est la vie, as they say in certain parts of Switzerland.

Re: Tissot T-Touch is very unreliable

Great...I guess I'll wait for my husband to see if he likes it and decide. He takes very good car of his things, so maybe I'll just tell him to be extra careful with this one thing.
