Here you go:

Mark 10:32-34
32 They were on their way up to Jerusalem, with Jesus leading the way, and the disciples were astonished, while those who followed were afraid. Again he took the Twelve aside and told them what was going to happen to him.

33 We are going up to Jerusalem, he said, and the Son of Man will be betrayed to the chief priests and teachers of the law. They will condemn him to death and will hand him over to the Gentiles, 34 who will mock him and spit on him, flog him and kill him. Three days later he will rise.

According to one of the scripture passages above, you are not one of his sheep.

Now do you see a stark difference between Islam and Christianity?

i dont find any words that jesus said i will die for your sins

who brought this idea

get a proper reference plz

Re: Religious Musings

[quote=Cashboy;533358]Aren't The Quaran, The Bible (New & Old) just books?
Haven't they been translated and re-written several times and interpretted to suit an argument or situation or justification.[quote]

Just for the Records.. the Arabic Text in Quran has always remained Unchanged and still remains Unchanged. Even the different sects have their differences as per interpretation, but Arabic Text still remains same.

Translation has its limitations, depending on the language being translated into. Yusuf Ali and Marmaduke Pickthall's Translations being most popular ones in English.

Interpretations can change, 2 main reasons are:
1) New scientific and intellectual developments (Faith, historic and Legal aspects still do not change)

2) People manipulation e.g. When "Free Mercenaries" were needed during the Allied war against USSR, the "72 virgin for each Martyr" was INSERTED in the Interpretations and even in School textbooks.. but now its over the 72 Virgin story is most scrutinised and rediculed!!

Another example, strict interpretations as per the Wahabi School of thought in Gulf States, which is only a religious justifications for an authoritarian control!

Im afraid I dont love Christianity OR Islam, I think they both cause death and destruction. I believe in Science, as did my parents and their parents before that. I can sin, without worrying about being a sinner, a can galavante with girls, my wife can wear what she likes, its really quite a good existence.

At this point, you remind me that I am searching for a 'purpose' in life and there is something 'missing' from my existence.

Take it away guys...

Alright Church, time for a musical break.

Believe it or not, I actually work.... or suppose to.

We'll resume Bible study in a little while, in the meantime:

Redemption Song

Forever Loving Jah

Thats a very blunt and unrefined statement to make.

Humans cause death and destruction for Power and Wealth, using Religion or God as pretext for it, helped by Science and Technology to do that on MASS scale now.

And where they dont have a God or Religion (Communists) they just EXTERMINATE the Human Insects whos existence is purely by Evolutionary Chance and they can always breed like rabbits and get replacements, Fitter and Better ones as per the Survival of Fittest rules.

Ok firstly I didnt think it was blunt but if it was I didn't mean it to cause any kind of offence so my apologies if it did.

However I would politely disagree.... Humans DO cause death and destruction in the name of religion, suicide bombers are surely irrefutable examples of that are they not ? they turn up on TV saying they are killing themselves in the name of religion.

And since when are people who don't have a God or Religion Communists ??? I dont have a god or religion and Im a normal democratic chap, not a communist!

You've misunderstoof the gist of the post. Let me rephrase it, as someone unrestricted by religion, I am free to live within the laws of the society I am in behaving as I wish as long as it adheres to the national law. That's the point.

imagine only few 100 of extreamist made hell of peace in this world, there are billion of religious followers, what would they do if the scriptures told them to do so ?

No.. I did not take offence, just said it was unrefined and very broad kind of statement.

Also you didnt read my post properly I think. These suicide bombers are the ones or instigated by ones who are desperate and "out of job" since the fall of USSR, coz in those days the same people who are criticising them were actually supporting and praising them

Well... Soviet communism was a Godless society and even China? or I read that wrong?

I am simply not doing this. I dont care in this example if leaders are causing death everywhere, that is not the argument. the point being made is that Dervaish had stated that no one kills in the name of religion and this is simply not true. Saying "oh but what about x" is irrelevant. That is not the argument here.

If you are able to contribute then I look forward to your response. However if you are just going to throw insults around as Phos has politely pointed out then please refrain from replying.

Thanks

Ok I resign from the discussion, not out of victory or defeat but the replies are not consistent to my normal style of debate. Happy arguing, though up against Phos I think you will run out of steam before he does!
