Seems quite a few atheist scientists are more than a bit upset since fellow atheist cosmologist, Martin Rees, has accepted an annual scientific award (and 1 million pounds) from a spiritual organisation The Templeton Founadation, for research 'affirming life's spiritual dimension'.

www.guardian.co.uk/science/blog/2011/apr/06/prize-mug-martin-rees-templeton
The writer of the editorial's got a point, even though I see Rees's reasons for accepting it: 1) Dinero!!! Who wouldn't accept a million pounds. 2) Rees is approaching the subject from the point of view that everyone should get along. Which is a good thing in itself, but as you can read in the article, The Templeton Foundation is no friend of science. This is the equivalent of a foreigner accepting cash from the SVP/UDC for being "one of the good ones" (even though TF don't have anywhere close to the political influence).

So I don't see the big deal and completely understand why Rees would accept the award and the cash. At worst, I find him a bit naive.

If OBL turns up somewhere alive, that can be the biggest challenge to Christianity.

The intellectuals would then be debating what is more believable, Resurrection of OBL or White House statements.
