What are you living for?

Day after day, month after month, year after year...

why are we doing what we are doing and what for?

As I get older, I realise most people (including myself) sometimes chose to bear out negativities rather than rock the boat...

Re: What are you living for?

We're getting a bit philosophical on EF these days

Personally, I'm living for the next adventure - big or small.

There must be something in the air tonight. I been having similar thoughts this evening - I haven't come up with an answer yet

...someone to clear up their own mess, empty the dishwasher and notice when the bloody bin is overflowing.

When that has happened, my work on this earth is done.

I'm living for that one real adventure. I'm just waiting for it to begin, but it's taking it's time...

To replicate successfully. If thats too base then I live because the alternative still troubles me slightly.

Re: What are you living for?

I'm living to one day stop all this traveling and living abroad stuff and just settle down in a nice little house in the country somewhere back home in the States.

After all these years, I still miss the little things like 24 hour grocery stores, chit chatting with store clerks, customer service and oh yeah...bagels!

I've found that just when you that one real adventure has come, another opportunity comes along that is even better. That's why I just live for adventures now, and enjoy them all!

It can be anything, really. From a small excursion with my camera to the countryside and fighting to understand anything in French (I speak about four words and a few numbers, I always hope the Alsace people will understand my poor German! ), to my next country move (to the UK, to join my husband who is already there), to that unknown interesting thing which is lurking around the corner.

Re: What are you living for?

It's a warm, cloudless day and I've got a cold glass of lemonade in my hand as I sit in a rocking chair that knows my butt intimately. The sun is almost gone and I'm watching my two beautiful children play with their dogs in the yard. The pygmy goats are trying to butt in - literally - bouncing all over the place, and there are chickens clucking contentedly, softly in the side yard. My wife comes out of the front door, sees me watching the children, and gives me a soft, sweet kiss on my head and sits down beside me.

We sit together, sharing my lemonade, watching the children racing the animals, as the sun sets.

That's what I live for.

Awwwwwww Morg. What is it with the avatars? Rotating cutness?

When I learned to look at things as opportunities rather than threats, I learned that every day there is something new, something worth thinking about.

And I have a great life, a wonderful husband, a sweet dog and a bitchin' view out the window.

Fleet Foxes on the CD player, a nice cup of tea and somebody lovely next to me.

Oh, and some metaphysical stuff, too, but the EF isn't the place for that...

Yeah, I used to like watching "The Little House on the Prairie" when I was a young lad too.

For me, living in Switzerland is a means to an end. And when it ends it means that my life can begin again.

You know, I've been asking myself this question for the past couple of weeks. Many of my plans have been derailed while I was trying to run full stride. All of a sudden, I ask myself what next... But there is not clear answer forthcoming yet.

I think a lot of people are stuck in this malaise lately. I hear this especially from people who work in large corporations. I think it is related to the "financial crisis". There are all kinds of restrictions on spending. Lack of motivation is rampant.

It's a bit like a 70's aint it? Perhaps given enough time, something like disco will come along.
