Re: Song of the day

That ever popular 'Swiss Classic' "Smoke on The Water".

This version for Rock Aid Armenia has many rock legends including: Bryan Adams, Ritchie Blackmore, Bruce Dickinson, Keith Emerson, Ian Gillan, Dave Gilmour, Tony Iommi, Alex Lifeson, Jon Lord, Brian May, Paul Rodgers, Chris Squire and Roger Taylor.

Does Dave Gilmour look as if he is being outplayed by Bryan May, or just struggling to keep up?

Re: Song of the day

i like Hope Sandoval's voice a lot, all whispery, rapturous and haunting... but in a good way. not quite the song they're most famous for, but certainly my favourite.

UNKLE feat Richard Ashcroft (of The Verve) - Lonely Soul

Featured in the film, "the Beach", starring Leonardo de Caprio and based on the novel by Alex Garland. All round a great soundtrack, by the way...

Re: Song of the day

Half looking forward to Blur in the summer, half looking backward to 5 years ago, mostly just in awe of what I consider to be one of the greatest songs of the Britpop era

Blur - No Distance Left To Run

It's over
You don't need to tell me
I hope you're with someone who makes you feel safe in your sleep
And tonight I won't kill myself, trying to stay in your life
I got no distance left to run

When you see me
Please, turn your back and walk away
I don't want to see you cos I know the dreams that you keep
It's where we meet
When you're coming down, think of me,
I got no distance left to run

It's over, I knew it would end this way
I hope you're with someone who makes you feel that this life is alive
And who settles down, stays around, spends more time with you
I got no distance left to run

I'm coming home, so come on...

In stark contrast to that excellent Antony and the Johnsons song, here's a man who must surely rank as the coolest composer in your Father's record collection...

One of my favorite Dead Kennedys songs. I think I prefer this cover to the original.

I heard this band in a cafe many years ago, and it haunted me. But could never find their name. Thanks for posting it.

Those guys are brilliant. I love the show and the videos from their gig at Edinburgh

Anyway, I'm feeling a bit of an Underworld day coming on.

Boy Boy Boy - Underworld

Beautiful Burnout - Underworld

Dirty Epic - Underworld

This ones from way back in '94. Still one of my favourite tunes...
