My song of the day is from my mates band.

This is a live performance from a couple of weeks ago in Geneva :

Absolutely bostin stuff!

I know I've pm'd you, but I think we should share the knowledge of this rather excellent band, don't you?

The original by Joe Jackson was MUCH better..!! I saw Joe Jackson back in the mid 80's at a club in San Francisco called The Old Waldorf, the place only had room for about 250 people. He played 2 shows that night and of course I just had to buy tickets for both shows..!! I hung back during the first show but when everyone got up to leave I headed straight to the seat that was located right in front of him for the second show.

By the way Joe Jackson is coming to Zurich on the 19th of July, see the following link for details and tickets:

Re: Song of the day

I've only ever heard the original but I do like Goldfinger's version - such a great song it would hard to make a hash of it.
Thanks for the concert info

They are called Ulmo, they're from Vevey and I'm sure they'll appreciate your comments.

More info. at www.ulmoband.com

Here's another one for you :

I think the sound on the videos is missing a bit of bass, you can hear their songs at http://www.mx3.ch/artist/ulmo

Re: Song of the day

And something from Segei Prokofiev. Probably one of the best film scores along with the Jaws theme.

Re: Song of the day

I saw the film "Brick Lane":
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0940585/
not so long ago (great film BTW).

Got to admit I wasn't really aware of what happened in East Pakistan before it changed its name (and why it changed its name).

Anyway since watching the movie this George Harrison song has taken on a new meaning for me:

Re: Song of the day

I suppose this could also have gone in the Cover Thread but as it is a traditional song rather than associated with one artist, here seems more appropriate.

This is Ian Gillan's haunting version of the old American folk song "Ain't No More Cane on the Brazos". I have been listening to his album today after a long time and cannot get it out of my head.

Re: Song of the day

As there hasn't been a Song of the Day for a couple of days, I thought I would add two songs

These are both collaborative versions.

Ben's Brother, featuring Joss Stone - Stalemate

Mica Paris with David Gilmour and Jools Holland - I Put a Spell on You (From 'Later with Jools Holland')

Re: Song of the day

Morrissey has cancelled quite a few dates on his present Tour (due to illness according to his PR).

Lying in his bed I suppose he must be thinking that "Life is a Pigsty":
