I just thought I'd show appreciation for Darren Hayes, now that he's agreed to front the reformed Cold Chisel for its RSL Tour.
If that were true Mr. Yards I would renounce my citizenship.

To try and improve the image of Australian music after all this talk of Savage Garden and crimes against music, here is one of my favourite Australian bands with a hot, hot song.

Love that song! Only heard it over Christmas, think it was on a Christmas pressie (Triple J compilation) and loved it instantly!!

Here's some more awesome Aussie music...

Re: Song of the day

This thread needs to be retitled "Songs of the Day".

Thanks for the little run of good Aussie music. Cannot let it end without one from The Master. A most perfect song.

Hectors and Collunters, now you're talkin'! (Mel, we're showing our age ...)

I admit to seeing Dazza Hayes in concert in Sydney (I'm musically eclectic, me), but he absolutely won me over by starting the concert with a very fine cover of this Regurgitator classic (one of the few that isn't NSFW!):

Concerts alone are never quite all they're cracked up to be.

But just sometimes, you hear something like this:

support act

main gig, my no1 fav band doing a live version of their new b-side cover of a current top 10 hit before it came out to the public

"Come on, come on, put your hand into the fire..."

Loved it! It captured my dark mood entirely.

Here are the lyrics:

Quote:
It's been a long time
I thought you'd get it
It's been a long time
but I finally beat the blood
back like you
It's been a long time
but let's just forget it
Ya gotta drive lies
then slowly trace the veins
Put it back in your heart

You helped me to cut our losses
'cause dreamin' isn't living
(don't come home)
Enough is enough coin tosses
We don't know how to treat it
or leave it alone

We got what we want
ask anyone
but war is still war
it's medicine
The wind's at our back
when we attack
'Cause God is our man
He understands
(the heart)
it beats for blood

Re: Song of the day

While listening, the following two somehow overlapped and together made a nice jazzy bossa of the day

«Waters of March» with the two immortals: Elis Regina and Tom Jobim...how beautiful the world can be when we hear it.
