Ah... a cold bottle of Amstel, a dark room full of small, wiggly-arsed brunettes, Saskia the Serbian barmaid, and this...

Apparently I'm only allowed to listen to Lady Gaga as the stuff I listen to isn't cheerful enough. F88k that.

Hoppy? WTF? This is supposed to be a nice thread where we share music, not an opportunity to celebrate the most loathsome youth movement of the last 50 years!

This was a joke, right?

Funny... I didn't see any Indians, Pakistanis, Sri Lankans or Bangladeshis in that video...

You can paint it any way you want, Hoppy. The skinhead movement is, and always was, predominantly racist and offensive to decent minded people.

EDIT: The video to which I refer has been removed by Hoppy. I haven't seen the new one to which she has provided a link.

I've got cheese and pickled onions to eat!

These days it may be...but didn't it start as blue collar vs white collar thing? Unless they blamed the immigrants for all their problems?

It started off as an excuse to go paki-bashing.

But we're taking the thread way off topic. I just wanted to raise my objection to Hoppy's somewhat naive and offensive choice of video a couple of posts back.

Boneheads hijacked the skinhead movement- time it was reclaimed.

There's a good deal of reclamation and re-exploration going on and also re-use, with fashion, film, music, and literature all taking an interest..

Haven't you seen all the kids wearing DMs again?

Yes, thanks I saw the film when it came out.I showed my daughter Northern Soul dancing and she showed me Shuffle versus Jumpstyle. I love Shuffle!

I thnk that the Northern soul dance style went to Melbourne in the 1970's then morphed into Shuffle during the acid house 80's, then was picked up by Malaysians. I oftten find that ofr every negative youth movement there is a counterbalance in form of a backlash as kids learn to compete and co-operate.

But I'll move on- don't want to hijack the song thread!

Re: Song of the day

I am trying to get into the Italian music scene as I am supposed to officially be living in Ticino.

My Italian cousin was staying at mine in the UK and introduced me to the music of Eros Ramazzotti.

The Italian language is just so sexy.
Here he is singing a duet with Tina Turner.
