Re: Song of the day

There's something truly lovely about this song.
Been putting it on for days now.

Love the lyrics and the disorder on that stage.

This is the new 7" vinyl single, 'Howl' from Bat for Lashes.
Now you're talking - two fantastic albums, and she's pretty hot to boot! I bet you can't guess my favourite song

Willie Nelson's take on Blue Skies. Mellow +++
Excellent choice sir.

So, here's a country chick (albeit slightly pansy ) - Jennifer Nettles (of Sugarland) singing "Stay". She did a duet with Adele at the 2009 Grammys which, if you can find (not available on youtube) I highly recommend...two of the best voices in recent times IMO.

Aw, Badly Drawn Boy...I think this is his best vid:

Janacek is always great to grade papers to, especially with a 3yr old dancing and singing to it..

I really wanted to post the one of him busking outside Waterloo station (it was the "official" All Possibilities video in 2003, but is not anywhere on Youtube that I can find... )

Ah, if we're doing Lambchop then I have to pick

and while on the mellow vibe, nothing mellower than Beck playing a harmonium - plus excellent lyrics, and a hefty dose of miserable, and you get almost my perfect video

Good excuse for me to do the honours, especially as it has just been nominated for an Ivor Novello Award for Best Contemporary Song

That leaving Feeling by Stuart Staples (singer in The Tindersticks)

Wow aren't those lyrics the most beautiful?

Must win surely???

Speaking of the Novellos, I took a look at the nominees and was amazed to find this bunch. An entire album of songs about Cricket...WTF indeed

Re: Song of the day

Aïcha

is the name of a French song written by the singer songwriter Jean-Jacques Goldman. The word Aïcha (عائشة) (also spelled A'isha, Aisha, Ayesha, and Ayisha) is an Arabic female name. More..

Lyrics / Theme

The song's lyrics are about a woman named Aicha, who is being wooed by a man. He promises her pearls, jewels, poems, and other luxuries and romantic things, to which she replies:

Keep your treasures
I'm worth more than all that
A cage is a cage, even if it's made of gold
I want the same rights as you

And respect for each day

I don't want anything but love

The lyrics were all in French. The Arabic verse by Khaled (his own composition) added later is as follows:

Nbrik Aicha ou nmout allik

Hhadi kisat hayaty oua habbi

Inti omri oua inti hayati

Tmanit niich maake ghir inti

I really like Khaled and this lovely song especially. It's been around a while..

My today's artist is Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan, a special Pakistani singer.

Though I think he is more known through Mass.Attack remix of Mustt Mustt, here is the original:

Two tracks from a great film soundtrack....can you guess which one though? A pint or a glass of white wine/fruit-based drink goes to the winner
