Apart from that: Sunrise simply has better contracts (e.g. the 60 fr contract already includes unlimited calling to all Swiss landlines and Sunrise numbers, calls to other networks are 35 Rp / minute, additional SIM-cards for the contract are only 5 Fr. per month compared to 10 with the rest, if you get the contract until tomorrow, you'll get unlimited SMS and MMS for free for a year, if you sign it online, you'll get 25 Fr. for data, calls, SMS etc. for the next 4 months).
If you factor in the network quality (or the lack thereof in the case of Orange), I really don't know why Orange still has customers :-/
Also: for most people things end up way cheaper if you buy an unlocked phone directly from Apple at full price and get a shorter and cheaper contract. E.g. the said contract from Sunrise only costs 40 Fr. if you get it without a phone.

| | Re: The General iPhone Thread and FAQ | Quote: | | | | | I've given up with the Orange site, and decided to try and buy one direct from from Apple - but their online store isn't selling them yet. | | | | | I guess they couldn't find anyone to update the store this early in the morning :-) My guess is that they'll probably still have phones tonight or even tomorrow morning in the brick and mortar shops (you might want to call ahead, though). If the shops are out of stock: the waiting time for unlocked iPhones is 3 weeks at the moment, if you order directly from Apple.

Peter | | | | | I simply don't care about call costs as I rarely use my phone for voice calls. I also have zero need for multiple SIMs. If I wanted unlimited text messaging, Orange Extreme Surf offers this with a lower handset cost and lower per month.
I have had no problem with the Orange network quality or coverage.

Peter | | | | | I included this comparison in my analysis.
The cheapest abo with 1gb with Orange is 29pm.
((12 x 29)+899)/12 > ((24 x 39)+429)/24

I'm not going to argue with that if it's right for you. I'm somewhat hostile towards Orange because when I moved to Thurgau in June 2009, I had to realize that I don't have any network coverage with them. Still, they wouldn't let me get ouf of the contract for 3/4 of a year :-/

peter | | | | | Perhaps if I lived in Aargau I'd feel differently, as it is I live in Zürich, rarely stray and the Orange network's fine here. Of course, if the network's no good where you live, the costs don't really come into it.

So we have a shiny new 16gb, didn't have to wait too long. Interestingly they were not pushing the 32gb versions at all, we had to ask for the price and was told ohh its very expensive.
I also asked how much without a tariff and the said they will not sell them at the moment!

So browse 4 to 5 pages of 20min and boom - quota used up.

Ok so it's all iPhone 4 at the moment, but don't forget about the poor souls (me included) that are still limping by with the old 3G. Here's a story regarding problems with the 3G and iOS4. Particularly relevant at the moment given the number of threads recently about exorbitant data roaming bills, as it appears that with the 3G data roaming in iOS 4 is not turned off despite showing that it's turned off.
You can get round this by deactivating cellular data, but it's still a major cock up if it turns out to be true.

Message from site | | | | | Same here. Seriously considering going the unlocked route straight from Apple, but you can't order online yet. The whole thing is a PITA, not unexpectedly.
