A UK insurer has published some funny iPhone claims:

Top ten wacky claims

1. I dropped it from a hot air balloon
2. I lost it while sky diving
3. It broke when my son used it as a table tennis racket
4. I lost it while building a sand castle for the kids
5. I accidentally buried it in the garden
6. It fell into the kettle
7. I dropped it in a food blender
8. My dog chewed it to pieces
9. Juice from a defrosting piece of meat leaked into it
10. It flew out of the car window

I put my original 3G in the washing machine for about 20 seconds. (Not something I'm overly proud of - but these things happen). The insurance company didn't want to pay for that either

Oh, but I think these are claims that the company did pay up on.

I was quoted a waiting time of between 1 - 2 weeks
Now might be a good time to order one from Orange because I've just received a text to say that my handset will be delivered tomorrow (a couple of hours after placing my order).

Good for you. I'm pretty sure those of us who have been quoted humongus waiting times have ordered the 32GB.

Actually I'd be curious as to who here has already scored a 32GB model. Go on let me know and make a mod feel bad

Ordered (32GB) and dispatched on the same day (last Friday) with Orange. Their website was stating 6 - 9 weeks, the phone operator quoted me 1 - 2 weeks and in the end it came the next day. Methinks a lot of this is Apple hype

My order with Apple for a 32gb is still showing as to be despatched on Friday, with delivery by following Wednesday. I'm hoping as it will arrive on Monday, as I've asked for it to be deliverded to work and we must get hundreds if not thousands of packages delivered every day.

Yup, you install an app on your phone, takes 2-4 weeks to arrive, which is about right - mine has just been posted.

Re: The General iPhone Thread and FAQ

It's incredible how Orange is incompetent. I ordered mine on the first day, got the confirmation SMS but they never sent it. Now, I got the August bill, they are charging me the phone and don't even have an estimated date to deliver grrrrr

After a couple of calls, they release me form the payment till the phone arrives. But no estimations...

Re: The General iPhone Thread and FAQ

Well Orange sent me a text message on Saturday, in French, telling me (I think) that the phone is on it's way, still no sign yet.

Don't know why they sent me this particular SMS in French, all my others are in English.

Re: The General iPhone Thread and FAQ

Has anybody bought an iphone 4 directly from the Apple Store in Zurich?
Are they available for walk-in customers or are they only available if you
pre-order them online ??

Basically I would like to know if they have some IPhone4s available to buy at the apple store right away so that I can avoid wasting a trip there in case none are available right now.

Any information in this regard would be really helpful.

Thanks...

The best way to get that information would be to call them, if that is indeed possible. Seriously nobody here is going to know exactly what stock levels they have in the Zurich Applestore.

I do have the feeling that you'll dissappointed though.
