Places in iPhoto was already available, non?
HD video upload is a big necessity - whats the point of a HD video if you have to plug it into your home machine each time you want to upload it?
Ping is a massive piece of crap. You thought with the experience gained from Genius (which manages to analyse your taste really well) would've been used in this but it just looks like a way for iTunes to make you buy stuff they want to sell you.

Agreed, I signed up when it came out and it mainly recommended stuff I wouldn't touch with a barge pole. It put me off using it but I'm going to have another look when I get the time. Not that many people will have signed up for it yet, and only major commercial artists are prepared, maybe if it starts to get wider usage you may get more interesting artists and labels making profiles.

Ordered mine about a week ago (32gb). Hope the waiting times have subsided a bit.

Plus what was with the facebook intergration? That lasted about 1 day before they pulled it. How am I supposed to know which friends are using it? It feels very 2005 if I have to enter everyones email address.
Apple are starting to feel like Sony where the ppl in charge pretend the internet doesn't really exist.

If so, it's dead in the water. | Quote: | | | | Plus what was with the facebook intergration? That lasted about 1 day before they pulled it. How am I supposed to know which friends are using it? I thought apple had grander plans for FB, integrating it into more of their software. Maybe it's just teething troubles.

Apple wanted FB integration in Ping but they couldn't agree on terms of use.
Jobs called the terms "onerous".

But it seems that for some reason it wasn't available on my phone until I upgraded yesterday. Photos taken before yesterday using the phone aren't visible in Places.

Anyone know how long the iPhone takes to activate? It currently just says "No Service".
Got the phone last night, put in the new SIM, turned it on and plugged it into iTunes, it's now restored to the same status as the old iPhone. All music, apps, etc are there. I get a message when I turn it on, "Waiting for activation, This may take some time", no kidding, it's been over 12 hours now.
I'm on Orange, I still have my other phone turned on (I still need a phone), will they just swap, or do I have to turn the old one off?

If you are international and you don't have enough money (like me hahaa) to buy an iPhone, the new iPod touch could be a good supplement. Given that you can now use it with skype, it could be very convenient for international calls.

OK, just gave them a call, said it could take up to 3 hours, but it's being sorted.

On another note, it looks like an accredited record label has to sign you up to ping so Independents have no chance http://www.thedailyswarm.com/headlin...-you-cant-diy/ |

Guys, could you please tell me if / where I can find someone who could help me unlock an iPhone 4 in order to make it work on every network?
I see here 144 pages on this thread and for that reason I apologies if this was already been discussed.
Thanks!

Came across this link on what to DO AND NOT DO if you drop your iPhone in the water.
Some interesting points. http://hubpages.com/hub/Apple-iPhone-Water-Damage |

| | Re: The General iPhone Thread and FAQ | Quote: | | | | | | | | | | The trouble is: I would assume that most people (incl. me) would only google this problem once it's actually happened. So, it's then a little too late to say "DO NOT TURN IT ON". In my case, it turned itself on in the washing machine, and I didn't try turning it off straight away. Tried the hair dryer - but eventually the screen went Zzz zzzzzzz to black and that was it.
Took it to the Apple store, who said it had no chance; same thing at the Orange store. Then I put it in rice for a couple of weeks and then I gave it to my son. Two months later, he tried charging it up and, hey presto, it works again. Not quite as well as before, but well enough to play games on and rescue the photos I hadn't yet backed up.
