Is there anyone here who is with Swisscom? I am. Seems like everyone is with Orange and Orange is giving you fits. I guess you get what you pay for...Orange, Sunrise. Good luck. I'm getting mine tomorrow AM from Swisscom, prepaid (as I do not want to extend my current contract) for CHF 619. No big deal, it's all mine.

Not that I'm the man to write it.
I mean, if this is what gadgets can do, imagine the effect religion could have on people.
Oh, right... |

I'd probably go with Swisscom as well, as they have edge up at my mother-in-law's but Orange only has voice there...

well, I couldn't sleep because our dear neighbor has been making noise all night. now I'm sitting in front of the phone house at basel greifengasse - I'm the first one in line and seemingly the only idiot who is bothering to wait here. It's an "interesting" experience. cops have been driving by about every 5 minutes.
anyway - if anyone cares to join me - unless they didnt't get any at all, this should be a relatively sure thing.
peter
at least there is good wifi reception here...

Hay guys I got mine iPhone 3g from swisscom...but its 8gb...coz they ran out of 16gbs
And one more thing when I was about to take the contract then I luckly asked then what will be the charges if I plan to leave the contract...then the guy told me that it will be monthly charge*remaining months...so if i cancel my contract next month then i'll have to pay 55*24=1320chf ...wtf
I have no idea weather he was telling correct or not...so i got the prepaid plan
-vib.

I registered for iPhone online with Orange few weeks ago. Two days ago they phoned me and we had our discussion in German. Since I do not have a great command of this language I suggested if we could speak English to discuss the technical aspect and contract. The Orange dude promised that his colleague would phone me later but nothing happened ever since. I gues I must go this morning and get it myself |

I ordered and paid on the Orange online shop yesterday, but until now have not received a confirmation email from either Orange or the credit card processors. Anyone else? |

Anyone else? | | | | | I did the same on Wednesday with the same result, no confirmation via SMS or email. I later phoned the dedicated iPhone line 0800 780 500. The guy there (Hi Steven) was really helpful and much more relaxed than the poor woman I spoke to at the regular customer care centre just before.
He checked out the order and told me that it was fine, my order (16GB black) was there on the system. He did tell me though that it could take a while to arrive (no surprise there).
I asked him if I had to go into a store to have it activated - he said that I could do it online via iTunes. Now this was a surprise and I was unsure if he was correct from what I'd read previously, but it seems that O2 in England are doing the same. Therefore I think I was wrong to doubt him and hopefully I can.

I think i'll be waiting till they get the next batch in and the demand isn't so high - I am a mac fan but am still amazed at the desperate need of people to have one instantly reducing them to que all night etc... madness
Anyone have any idea/speculation when a new batch could be shipped? are we talking weeks/months for the shops to be re stocked?

The info regarding activation via iTunes contradicts everything we've heard up until now, but who knows? I know you can upgrade software on an existing iPhone to 2.0 using iTunes in the UK, but I hadn't heard anything about the 3G phones being activated that way...

Orange told me probably 2-3 weeks for the next batch, but it sounded like they were guessing. Apple have said elsewhere that they intend to keep supplying on a regular basis. I've had no confirmation email, but I guess their workload is high right now.
It's in French, but a funny blog on one chap's success is here.

well, I was the first in line this morning. I HAD a 16gb white one. HAD.
When I go to my office I had to find out that it's dead on arrival - bad battery probably. By the time I got back to the Swisscom shop they were out of 16gb - now I have an 8gb black one.

I wasn't paying with a credit card, but as an upgrade to my current phone so it'll go on my next monthly bill. Probably best if you check with your cc company too.
