Re: The iPhone 3G thread and FAQ

Hey sorry if I made you think that I wanted to involve you.

Just dissapointed with not to have my iphone on the day of launch although I reserved it through web form provided by orange.

I had a lot of bad expriences with Sales and Customer services in Switzerland through six years and sometimes I feel fed up.Sometimes I need somekind consumer rights organisation who can help & protect me. I know very well that ombudsman will not help about this

I think you're living in some kind of fantasy world if you expect an Ombudsman to get involved in this. I also don't understand why you were trying to involve me in it. I'm quite happy to sit tight and wait and have never indicated otherwise.

Help and protect you because you are fed up because you might have to wait a week or two for a new and popular product?

Then why suggest we go to one?

Regarding your bad experiences with sales and customer service over the years - your reaction to not getting an iPhone on launch day would suggest that your expectations are unrealistic.

Hey you guys who have activated your phones! I got my 16gb black phone today (after a call from Orange)
Seems like the Orange shops got a delivery today, as I also got a call notifying that I have black 16gb to pick up.

Bah, who am I kidding. There is not amount of emoticons that could successfully convey my excitement.

And think of all those people who couldn't wait 5 days for the 16gb and who are stuck with the 8gb.

You've all been duped, I've heard that the next batch of iPhones will have better, brighter Hitachi TFT screens (no yellow tint), a SirfStar V GPS chip with 10 sec TTFF (Time To First Fix) and the 16GB will be the new entry level once the 32GB is released.

Worth wating for I'd say

What the intentional yellow tint that can be fixed with a software update?

As I've said before, I'm waiting for 128gb one so I can fit all my music on, but I've a feeling that I might be waiting a long time, so 16gb will do me for now.

Bah, you've got me all defensive now! Stupid phone.

I'm transferring my number from Swisscom so the sim won't work until the 24th. Will I be able to activate my phone without the simcard and just use the wireless stuff on it?
I don't know the answer but hope someone does. I am currently on pre-pay with no contract at all, but Orange still insisted on a 30 day delay...? Is this some sort of attempt to get me to take a new Orange number??

Re: The iPhone 3G thread and FAQ

16GB? 32GB? Who cares.

To be honest, as soon as you buy any computer type kit you've screwed up.
It's obselete and you paid too much.

The Schadenfreude is much sweeter when it's an iPhone though.

Re: The iPhone 3G thread and FAQ

The difference here being that the wait for double the storage capacity is five days, as opposed to five months.

.
I do. 16gb i cannot fit my itunes music collection on.

32gb i can fit whole itunes, all my photos, all podcasts, and all other data needs, plus room for two or three movies.

When i need to start managing what i need to put on and leave off, it becomes a less pleasureable user experience.

Its hard to tell how long it will be before the 32gb iphone arrives, but since the 32gb ipod touch is available now, it cannot be tooooo long.

Re: The iPhone 3G thread and FAQ

When I got home yesterday one was waiting for me, shortly after Orange phoned to say they have 2 waiting for me in Lowenstrasse.

Not too organised really. Also they must have known last Friday they'd take delivery of more this week.

Re: The iPhone 3G thread and FAQ

I have been in Switzerland for 5 days now so I definitely don't have this country down yet. In the US when a new product comes out (i.e. Wii, iPhone, Xbox, etc) folks line up outside stores every AM and when the doors open they are the first ones to have a chance to grab what came in on the truck the night before or that morning. Does it work the same way here? I already have a Verizon Blackberry World Phone but would like a local number and the ability to take pictures and upload online a I walk the streets of Europe. What is the best option available to grab any size of an iPhone from Swisscom in the next weeks to month?

Some people line up here too, bit in general I'd say people have more self respect than that

Wait a week and I'll bet iPhones are freely available.

Re: The iPhone 3G thread and FAQ

Update, after my own post I was able to go the the Swisscom site and order both the 8gig or 16 gig, the order went through and I was informed that everything is OK. We will see.

Re: The iPhone 3G thread and FAQ

delivery/order update

My husband has just had a call from Swisscom asking if our order for 2 iPhones is correct and he was told they are processing the order and we will receive them in the next few days! very surprised as we only ordered them online on Sunday evening. Also earlier before this phonecall I called Swisscom to ask about orders/delivery and they said that they had had no new deliveries in since the first batch which had sold out and next delivery may be in 2 weeks or so - a little bit confusing and very conflicting info - I can hardly believe that our order is being shipped from the original shipment due to the fact our order wasn't placed until Sunday night
